Hello guys I want to upgrade my tires to wider ones and was looking at two sizes. Looks like stock diameter is 26.4”with the factory 235/40/19. The 255/35/19 are only 26” so I would imagine ride quality would suffer some due to the sidewall being a bit shorter? The other option is 245/40/19 so it’s a bit wider than stock but also the diameter is taller at 26.7”. Which tires would you guys suggest any other recommendations I’m definitely looking for wider tires for better grip. Thanks!

I doubt you'll really notice a difference in terms of handling when increasing the tire width by 9%, but hey, if you can get 255s for the same price as 235s go for it I guess. Also, you'll want to mess with overall diameter as little as possible as it'll impact your speedometer reading.

True I’m mainly looking for some summer tires. I guess if I can get sticky good quality summer tires in stock size they’d probably be better than wider cheaper tires of 9% width. I think on an 8.5” rim you can go up to 265 width that might be a big enough jump from 235 to make it worth while.

Some tires also just have a bigger (wider) contact patch than others. If you do enough digging, you can stick with the factory size and still get a bigger contact patch. Pick the wrong tire, you can lose contact patch even if you go up a size.

Also, I can't find a single 265 tire that is 19" in diameter that'll fit a 8.5" wide wheel, everything I can find is for 9" wide and up.

Good information I didn’t think of the contact patch. There’s plenty of 265/35/19 that fit the 19X8.5 rims on the accord. Here’s one.

I got some 255/35/19 Toyo T1R Ultra High Performance Summer tires going on.

245/40 will give you a better ride and better gas mileage.

i run 255 40 19 no issues and a great ride. your 19s will look like 18s though lol but you dont have to worry as much for potholes.
Will those clear if I were to do lowering springs or coil overs ? l think Eibach springs lower by 0.9” in the front and the back.

That I don't know. I'm on stock ride height. Those Eibach springs apparently lower a bit more than expected. check out the lemon factor on you tube. He put Eibach springs and gives a review. Good luck.

Do you have any pictures of this setup? I am thinking of going to this setup for increased rim protection from curbs
I’ll snap some pictures today !
