And I still have no maintenance minder coming on for my first oil change. When did your maintenance minder come on?

30% fuel life? I'm still trying to figure out how you've been driving for 6 months and 4300 miles and used less than 3/4 of a tank of gas?

Dude, you must be doing some SERIOUS hypermiling! What's your secret?

:D

hahahah fill me in too!
to the OP, i think you mean "oil" :D

I have 2200 miles, car is 4 months old, and oil life is 60%. Now, if I wait for the MM, then would it matter if the oil in the car is over 6 months old probably by the time I do change the oil? Because the way it seems is that I won't go for an oil change until 8 months or April '07. Is it recommended to keep the oil in the car this long? :dunno:

i cant trust that i need to do mine at 5000 miles and the first time i changed it at 2500.

I was told by dealer during new car owners orientation thingie that you should follow the MMS when chaning your oil. However, if you drive very little and you haven't changed the oil after 12 months, he said to go ahead and change it.

So, either follow MMS or change oil after 12 months.... whichever comes first. But if you want to change it sooner, say at 5000 miles or 7500 miles, there's no harm in doing that. You'll just end up paying more over time.

You probably should have really let it sit until 5000 miles if it was your first oil change because Honda, from what I've read, puts a special break-in oil in there. I've read that it's best to let it run with that oil for at least 5000 miles.

But I don't believe there's any harm in changing it early. Kind of a waste though.
