Just finished up installing my Retro HIDs. It's 11AM in Los Angeles right now, so night shots will be coming. Check this thread later today!

So it's 7:15pm right now and it can't get dark fast enough! Decided to take some evening shots as well as the position of my HID ballasts. Here ya'll go:

Regarding questions about why I mounted in my engine bay: 1) Because I thought it was kind of cool. 2) Felt it was easier.
Regarding questions about stability/security: Hood closes perfectly fine and those ballasts are secure as all hell.

Word, man! 6000k might be the most natural white, but with the 8000k theres that very very very slight tinge of blue that I think makes the lights look classy as hell. Summer's coming up us LA folk need to arrange a meet up!!:banana:

Ugh! I just installed mine the other day.

I wish I thought of putting them into the engine bay, would have made my life so much easier!

good for you, although i dont understand why you went with 8k. 6k would look similar and have much more output... or even better 5k

Did you take off the bumper for installation? If not, your strategy of mounting the ballasts under the hood could be a good idea.

Did not remove the bumper at all. Just peeled the fender lining and fed the wiring up through already existing holes.

Wow. This is a great way to install these then. I was thinking about getting some HIDs, but removing the bumper would be a no-no for me. Now that I can install them this way, I might reconsider.

Do you have any pictures from the installation.

bumper removal literally takes 10 minutes to remove...

How is that not a clean install? Because you can see the ballasts? Haven't heard of product placement have you?

Looks good! They look more like 6k to me. Reason being is ur using 55w. If you would have gone with 35w, they would have been way too blue! Oh, and be ready for LA meet. Early summer....
