engine light come on when driving distances,, then D4 starts flashing, then it loses power then stalls. It might be related to the ac. my mechanic can't seem to figure it out.

flashing D4 means trouble with the transmission

Read the codes and report back

Seek out a different mechanic as these are very easy problems as the codes and D4 point to where the problem is in the systems.

Engine, transmission, maintenance records, miles on the clock would help immensely.

Thanks for getting back to me. My mechanic has seen the car 10 times and we have tried replacing the fuel pump and filter, He had a transmission guy put in a new chip, and that worked for a while. The car was an old ladies, original owner but sat for 2 years until I got it oct 2021 with 102K miles. I now has 120K. After the new chip i worked well but on 30 minutes of freeway driving the check engine light would go on, but it would not stall of start flahing D$. This last saturday I decided to try the AC again. Immediately the car struggled, the after i turned it off, the check engine light came on. Then at a stop light it died. Next I started driving home and it died and would not turn over. I had it towed and when I got it to the mechanic it started. Next day he drove it and said its OK. Then he drove it later and said it was lagging again. I just spoke to him and there is no problem at the moment. This is driving me nuts. Hes tried reading the codes but I am not sure hes good with electrical and old (1995) codes. It flashes a sequence and I find it hard to decipher also.Im pretty sur its a transmission problem and a chip problem but I am not a mechanic. He said he replaced the trans fluid previously and is light brown, not bad he said. ??

First I'll retract my disparaging remarks about your mechanic. At first post it sounded like he didn't know what D4 flashing was.

yup the flashing light method for this year might be more difficult to interpret.

What chip did the transmission guy replace?

Does anyone familiar with the 95 Honda transmissions know if they used a throttle Valve cable this MY?

I replied with some links from others whom have had this issue. My advice would be to either repair or replace the ECU main relay. These are prone (from this era of Hondas) to develop a tiny failure of solder, that results in, intermittent no start/no crank and check engine light. The part is under $40 on RockAuto and it takes less than 30 minutes to replace. The difficult part to replace is reaching/seeing under the driver's floorboard area, it's tucked up there. Given your multiple symptoms and intermittent problems, I think it's worth a try.
