I replaced the speedometer in my 96 Accord, as the old one was jumping to 20 mph and sticking there. I purchased a used one that was working when they took it out of the other car. Now, in my car, it works sometimes but not consistently. This one will sit on 0 mph and then just jump up to whatever speed I'm going. It seems to work better when the car is hot - like it's been sitting in the sun. Then sometimes, after it is working, it's just stop and drop back to 0. Any ideas?

Sorry, I can't help you and while this problem may be similar to about any year you might have better luck posting in the forum meant for your years, you posted in the 6th gen forum (1998-2002 models) try here and you may have better luck:

I think you are on the right track starting with the speed sensor. Since you replaced it with a used one and it works part of the time, you may have a wiring or connector issue. Check to see if they are in good condition. Otherwise you may need to spring for new VSS.
