Hello all,

So I have a 2013 EX-L and was planning on upgrading the "premium" audio system. My plan was to add a mono amp for a set of dual 12's, and then upgrading my door speakers and still running them off the factory amp. I'm curious about what the max RMS amp/sub combo I should go for is. What can my car handle? What's the biggest amp you've put in your car with no dimming/side effects?

I need to specify, sorry. Most importantly, on stock electrical, thanks.

For the aftermarket 12's and amp, you can use whatever RMS/Sub Comb you want - based on your preference and objectives. With the right amp/sub/wire combo you can easily run a clean 500 watt RMS setup without dash dimming. Upgrading the door speakers, while retaining the factory amps typically yield underwhelming improvements in terms of increased sound output --specially if that's your objective.

However, if you simply want a bit more sound clarity with slight bass improvement, you may be satisfied if you use the right aftermarket speakers. You will likely end up adding aftermarket amps to power the aftermarket door speakers.

I've ran 1kW of actual power output but the alt cannot keep up at idle (as expected). Most of the time i'm just enjoying music at normal levels and the stock alternator is fine for the task.
