Question for guys with the 6MT. Do you guys leave it in gear and coast to stop, or do you guys put it in neutral when approaching a red light? At what rpms are you guys shifting at? 1500-2000 rpms?
Just picked up a 2014 Sport 6MT and I’ve been doing mostly city/hwy 60/40, and best ive gotten is 577 a tank at 16 gals fill. I do not keep filling after the first click. I see some keep filling it, and one member ended up filling 19+ gallons! How? Is there 2 gallons of tubing attached the 17.2 gal capacity tank? Or does the tank actually hold 19+ gallons?
Anyways thought I’d ask you guys since you all have been at it and its only been 2 weeks since i got this car.
If you are going for max MPG, leave it in gear while coasting. This shuts off the fuel injectors until about 1100 rpm, with 0% throttle. If you take it out of gear and coast, the motor will drop to idle, and turn the fuel injectors back on to keep the motor running. This is easily testable as you come to a slow crawl to see the difference, you'll feel the injectors come back on if you are paying attention to it.

Got it. Thanks, I will give tis a try as I have been putting it neutral coming to a stop. And I usually shift from 1500-2000rpms.

I'm averaging 36.7 mpg in my 2017 LX 4cy with CVT over the past 9 months and 7,000 miles (I bought it used). In the warm Summer months, it's been more like 38. About 60% highway and 40% city. I don't use the Eco button but I do drive with gas mileage in mind.

Just took the car for a trip coming from Los Angeles up to Lake Tahoe.
2014 Accord Sport 6MT. Driving up 37.3mpg with AC on 50% of the time. Going back down was slightly better at 39.6mpg using the AC 25% of the time. I got excited when i hit 400 miles at the half mark driving back home. I also have my UltraGage installed but it doesnt really match what the car is calculating.
The last two trips of 28 and 27.6 was all city and me still learning how to drive efficiently. Didnt help that I was using the AC most of that time. Overall, I am happy with the mpg given the cars weight and big ol heavy 18” wheels. Last pic is where its currently at. I want to see if i can hit 700 miles lol.

Okay, I don’t know if I trust this but this morning on a 72 mile drive from Houston to College Station with outside temperature of 72 degrees and cruise set at 65 mph, I hit a high of 45.4 mpg with my 2015 V6 sedan. Air conditioning on. Econ button off. I never use it. I bought the V6 to enjoy, not economize. 23,000 miles on odometer. I averaged 43 mpg. That’s the highest highway mileage I’ve ever achieved.

I do not know where or how you get your numbers on mpg, but real life numbers on my v6 just not even close to what computer on screen shows.

Now, I do warm-up a vehicle for a few minutes before driving it. Mixed city and hwy. No hard starts off the line and mostly coasting to a stop. Freeway range between 70 and 85ish sometimes when space and portions of freeway allows.

I seem to always be breaking records in my car. With this whole Covid thing I decided, why not? Traffic has been extremely cooperative and the weather has been hot and humid, perfect for a record breaking run.
This is my daily commute to and from work, 25 miles each way. 90% freeway, no hills, very little A/C, windows rolled up.
Went 647 miles and got 38.2 MPG. I'm pretty sure that record won't be broken anytime soon. I might try to break it but only if I were doing a road trip.
Oh, and this is a V6.

Before it was recently totaled, my 2015 LX i-4 Sedan would average 35-36/tank and 32-33/tank when temps went under 45. Highway was 70% highway (50-75) and 30% city. I drive easy, most of the time. There were some drives that were mostly highway 55 and under that I'd get into the mid-40s. Amazing mpg on this car.
