hello!

I just took my car into the shop and it looks like i have a clogged expansion valve. the symptoms are cold a/c right when the car get turned on and gets warm. he hooked it up to the gauges and the pressure is off.

my question is: are there any tricks to getting the expansion valve unclogged? has anyone had any success doing anything other than just spending the 350 on it and having a professional work on it?

any tip or tricks would be appreciated!

The expansion valve is not in a very easy place to get to, the interior part of the evaporator housing has to come apart as its inside the housing.

If it's clogged or defective and not opening there's usually a root cause of failure. Clogging could be from compressor debris, a breaking or broken desiccant bag in the drier or just a bad valve.

Has anything been added to the system prior to this issue?
