We’ve had two straight Accords the latest being a 22 Hybrid. I specifically bought it for the mileage. Was a bit naive as I didn’t think about battery replacement. Recently learned the battery needs replaced every 100-150k with a price somewhere between 2-8k. That makes its cost of ownership much higher. We are getting ready to replace our 14 Accord and I’m def not going the hybrid route with that additional cost factored in. Anyone already have this work done? What kind of cost did you run into?

The Honda battery has an 8 year 100k warranty. A brand new one is $2700 or so.

A Honda 1.5T's CVT has a 5 year 60k warranty. A brand new one is $2400 or so.

Why are you hesitant to buy a Honda hybrid over a Honda with a CVT? In my opinion, the chances that either one will experience a failure are similar and the cost to fix it is pretty close.
I just stopped at the Honda dealer in Des Moines yesterday. Ask them what the cost of replacing a battery in a 2023 CRV hybrid would be. Was $400 and the cost of the battery was over 4000 bucks. Will tax and everything you’re looking at about a $5000 bill when you have to replace it.

Thats good. Just reporting on what I was told by the parts dept from a big dealer here in CO
The Dreamshop battery pack for my ‘22 Accord was 3500 plus a 500 core charge. And That is a remanufactured unit. So, what the dealer said was pretty much on target…a little higher likely because they put in new.

So, the bigger question is going to be finding out how long these batteries really last as compared to what Honda says the replacement cycle is.

Not sure why anyone would be concerned with current Hybrid battery replacement costs. The car has an 8 year/100K warranty on that battery. I would expect by the time any of us need to replace the battery, if ever, the costs will be lower, and there will be other options for replacement units.
100,000 miles is nothing at all. It’s just called planned cost of ownership. I typically keep my Honda's well over 200k. So…I need to be concerned about this when considering the total cost of ownership.
