Purchased about a month ago and the center armrest creaks, especially when temps are hotter.

Simple fix, arguably poor design by Honda. Felt padding reduced noise by 90%, I may add more to the plastic clips on the sides of the cover.

Cover is removed by removing 4 screws (2 near hinge area) - all accessible with lid open.

You can see where the plastic from the top of the armrest is rubbing on the lid

Want to do mine now? It's a '16 EX CVT Coupe... [emoji16]
Takes less than an hour.

The creaks also coming from from the cupholders adjustable spacers.
I haven’t heard that but I’ll check.
This Coupe is so much quieter than my 2008 - that was a mess and I spent time chasing the rattles and squeaks.

That's the first thing I noticed when i purchased my accord 3 yrs ago. When you put pressure with your elbow to readjusting yourself was the worst sound. Never did anything about it but might check into this now.

While the creaking is better it’s still not gone. Do what I did but I think I need to do something with the plastic clips on both sides to totally eliminate.

This thread finally motivated me to apply 2 self-stick felt strips (1/2 x 2-5/8th inch), one on each side, on the "lip" around the opening under my arm rest. I positioned them close to front of the opening, but not so far forward that they're visible when the cover is down.

No more creaks or groans when resting my arm on the rest or using it as a support when I lean in from driver's side to grab something off the passenger seat/floor. Yea!

I've got some dynamat laying around wondering if it might work. Might be too thick though.
Probably too thick.
Years ago I purchased sheets of adhesive backed felt at Michael’s which is what I primarily use for rattles as it’s thin.

Thanks!
I have some thicker felt and may try that - glad it worked for you!

The dynamat actually worked good but now I only have noise coming from above the latch of the armrest. So the 10% noise sticking around is pretty accurate! Might take it off again and mat it some more to see where the noise is coming from.

Thanks to all for the suggested fixes. When I took my 2016 Sport CVT in for its first oil change, the stealership told me that they could not hear the noise. It still bugs the dickens out of me 4 years later. Glad to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. So I'll try the felt tape if I can find it at Michael's.
llebcire, would you please consider posting more photos of where and how you placed the felt tape on the clips? Are you talking about the 4 rectangular openings on the left side of your photo in the 1st post of the underside of the cushioning pad on top of the center console storage bin? I see that you also placed the felt on the screw housings. Did that help any, or was that just attempting to eliminate all possible sources of the noise? Thanks!

I'd start just by putting felt pad strips on top of the opening like I did. That solved the problem for me without having to take things apart. And of course, YRMV!

I bought a packet of the 2-5/8" felt strips for a few bucks at W'mart, and I know Home Depot, etc have them too...

You can see where I put the felt on the lid and also where the lid latches.

Still have some plastic creaking and may put some around the opening like @Ronch (pics??). I'm also not sure where others are putting the dynomat.

My source of creaking was the same as @Ronch . When I pressed down on the front half of the centre armrest. I tested it by putting a winter mitt between the latch and found that the squeak disappeared when it was there.

So I then bought some black felt from Michael's for $2 and used some 3M mounting tape I had laying around on the underside of the armrest to eliminate my squeaks. It turned out to be VERY successful squeak elimination for me. Maybe some of you can try putting a sock or mitten in between your arm rest to see if it helps you. Simple fix. No need to disassemble the arm rest.
