My 2012 V6 Accord has 60,000 miles on it and the breaks are pulsing when stopping. Mechanic say the pads still have 50% life in them. I can live with the pulsing rotors for a while but I want to start researching what pads and rotors will be the best replacements to install when the time comes. What all are you guys using and what is regarded as the best replacement break parts for the Accord? I don't race the car and just want something that stops well, lasts a long time without warping and doesn't get break dust all over the rims. Many thanks!

i just replaced my fronts with Centric carbon rotors and Centric c-tek ceramic pads. haven't done my rears yet but i've still got some time on them. i like them alot so far, and it's definitely a job you can do yourself. just look up "chris fix" on youtube. save yourself lots of money in labor.

I've had good luck with Akebono pads & regular parts store rotors. People here seem to like Centric rotors.
haha yep, thats where i got the recommendation. now if only people will answer questions i have about tires/lowering etc lol

Going with these and maybe a better set of all season tires in the future. Seems rockauto is the best source for these except for the rear rotor where amazon has it for $25. :)

Centric 120.40046 Premium Brake Rotor (front)
Centric 120.40068 Premium Brake Rotor (rear)
Akebono ACT787 ProACT Ultra-Premium Ceramic Brake Pad Set (Engineering #ACT564) (front)
Akebono ACT1336 ProACT Ultra-Premium Ceramic Brake Pad Set (rear)

Just had installed a set of Akebono ProAct on the front with NAPA Ultra Premium rotors, mechanic was really impressed by their stopping power. I have always used the Hawk HPS pads in the past. The Akebono's have pretty good grip, was looking for less brake dust.

The pulsing is due to uneven pad deposits left on the rotor and is a reflection of either poor quality pads or pads that have worked outside of their ideal temperature range. For a street car I tend to use Hawk HPS pads with whatever parts store blank rotors available. The torque is good for a street pad, they are harder to overcook, and they don't dust too badly.

Centric rotors all around and Ebc green stuff.

For my driving style it's perfect.

And when it's cold the pads still bite hard unlike many performance brands where they suck untillmyou heat them up. (Which doesn't happen on my 15 min commute to work in the winter)

Anything decent will be just fine. I once run the cheapest rotors ($10ea Autozone brand) for many years without issues.

What's important is actually the installation. Improper torque of lug nuts is the leading cause of rotor warping. You might want to buy a torque wrench, and torque the lug nuts properly.

You guys keep calling it EBC green or red stuff and I actually though it was called by some other name :)

Now I know you guys have been calling it by its name all along. I haven't bought pads so wondering whether this or the Akebono will be gentler on the rotors but still offer better than stock braking power. I don't care about brake dusts at all as I don't even bother with the stock rims/wheels.

Greenstuff? Brake Pads

I read some reviews on amazon and it seems because EBC is UK-based, there's fewer reviews and people put lots of poor reviews just because of brake dusts but the pads costs double the Akebono ProActs so I may just stick with Akebono since it has more Accord owners with pleasant reviews.
