I put a pretty noticeable gouge in my rear bumper while loading something in my trunk recently. I'd like to get a rear bumper applique but I've noticed that the Honda one is clear so it won't hide the defect I already have. Has anyone found an aftermarket one that's either black or color matched to the car? I couldn't find anything on ebay other than the OEM one.

Are you saying you scratched the paint down the primer? If so, do a touch up and then put the clear applique on. Even though it is clear, it does have a little texture to it, similar to orange peel on your paint. It won't cover up the defect you created, but will probably do a decent job of "hiding" it.

I have this on my car. www.enddings.com It wont help what you already have, but it is clear and will protect against the minor scrapes you get when somebody rubs the bumper.
The best thing is it gets applied with water, and stays tight on the bumper, so taking it off is no problem.

Yeah it was scratched through the primer and into the black plastic of the bumper. I did touch it up about a week ago before I polished the car over the weekend. I didn't do a very good job of touching it up, but it did help and it's not super noticeable. I just thought if I'm going to put something back there I might as well see if I can get something to cover the damage I already did. Sounds like the OEM "clear" one might still cover this up pretty well though.

It's the spot exactly in the center of the pictures. Everything else that looks likes scratches are just reflections.

Maybe a vinyl shop can make you are really thick black Applique? I have a feeling that the clear one may not look that good in the repaired section because the surface is not super smooth.

Yeah I'll probably just learn to live with it the way it is. I might try to even out my crappy touch-up job a little too.

I'm not 100% sure but this might be of your interest.
