Well my sister wakes me up at 3:30 last night and tells me my cars been broken into. I go outside, front passenger window is smashed in and airbag from steering wheel is gone. File a police report this morning, waiting for insurance to call me back and haven't even spoke with dealership yet.

Has this happened to anyone? Anyone have any suggestions?

That sucks, sorry!
Did your alarm go off? I know the glass breaking wouldn't set it off, but didn't they then open the door to get to the airbag? Opening the door will set off the alarm (I tested).

A few years back my neighborhood had like 4 airbags stolen, they tried to break into my TSX but for some reason they stopped after smashing the window...

wow that sucks. sorry to hear that.

The steering wheel airbag can be easily removed without opening the door. It's only being held down by 2 bolts and some connectors. I hope you disconnect the battery and don't turn on your car. if you do, i think the airbag light will go on and you'll have to go to the dealer to reset it. I think u can just buy a new airbag and put it back in, then reconnect the battery, it should be good as new.. But airbag is not cheap..

..what's the point of stealing an airbag? Too bad it didn't blow up in their face and kill them. We could only be so lucky

WHOA! You MUST go to the dealer to get this fixed. This is an airbag and an SRS issue, not a busted ashtray. Pay your deductible and get on with your life....do not DIY....and this coming from a DIY-er.

You can sell stolen airbags for late model cars for about $300 cash at several car repair places. They bill your insurance $800 for the replacement from Honda, and they pocket the $500.

Here in Chicago, every few years there are gangs of these chop shop dudes who get busted- they actually drive around looking for certain cars to steal parts from.

BTW- when airbags first came out, they were all "rapid inflation" and did snap the necks of thieves as well as those in an accident that did NOT wear their seat belts. The ones since are all inflated at a slightly lower rate to cushion you should you not be wearing your belt.

Worth a lot of money.

Too bad car manufacturers don't make the air bags harder to steal (or wired to alarm...)

Or deploy when tempered with. Lol

Honda's not going to do anything that would incur liability to thieves, dumb service techs or indy, dumb diy owners, and so on and so on.

Pull a Neighbors prank. Your sister should check her work chair before she sits down in it...
haha right. That movie was great

Sorry to hear about this OP. I didn't know air bags were such a hot commodity. Hopefully one day they'll get theirs

Went to the dealership, three others cars got hit last night. 2 9th gen accords and a new civc. One of the accords was from my neighborhood. I suppose if you live in northeast Philadelphia keep an eye out

Early airbags were indeed 200 MPH explosives (and they worked). While new airbags are smarter, they still come out with tremendous force and can still cause significant facial damage and break the necks of children who should have not been placed in harm's way. The new labels still warn of injury and death.

Which dealership do you use? (In case you don't mind sharing.) I'm guessing that was Sloane? Was just at Sussman a couple weeks back for a software update.

Airbags are some of the single most expensive parts on our cars. $500+ a pop (no pun).

Happen to me last Tuesday!! They didn't smash the windows but they somehow used a master key. Had to pay $500 deductible. Brought it to Honda and they put in a new airbag and they fix all the minor dents and scratches around the car.
