In the media as of couple days ago there’s a new recall out for what they define as “2013 Accord” see below, and I’m just wondering what cars does it cover, the whole 9th generation? Both I4 and V6? Hybrid too? It’s not very clear:
The story is actually in other places since couple days ago, but still, not totally clear as to affecting year model 2013 only or the whole 9th generation.2013 Accord Recall
Honda has recently issued a recall for certain 2013 Accord sedans due to potential driveshaft failures. This recall, announced in July 2025, affects over 65,000 vehicles equipped with four-cylinder engines and continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) that were originally sold or registered in specific states where road salt usage is common.1
As far as the article in question not being clear, that would be expected of said rag. my opinion.
- Affected Vehicles: 2013 Honda Accord sedans with four-cylinder engines and CVTs. The recall specifically targets vehicles registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.1
- Problem: The driveshaft may corrode and break due to exposure to road salt or other contaminants. This issue stems from the lubricant used during assembly, which can degrade the protective coating on the driveshaft, allowing corrosion to occur more easily.1
- Potential Risks: If the driveshaft fails, the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of power while driving or roll away while in Park, posing a safety hazard.1
- Remedy: Honda dealers will replace the driveshaft assembly at no cost to the vehicle owner. Owners who have already paid for related repairs may be eligible for reimbursement.1
- Recall History: This recall expands on a previous one issued in December 2020, which covered model years 2013-2015. Honda has not reported any crashes, injuries, or warranty claims related to this latest recall in the U.S..3
- Notification: Honda will begin mailing owner notification letters on August 11, 2025. Vehicle owners can check if their car is affected by entering their 17-character VIN on Honda's consumer website.4
- Contact Information: Owners with questions or concerns can contact Honda's customer service at 888-234-2138.
