Did they have the same transmissions? If so, that would make sense because a V6 would be sending more power to an already weak transmission.
No the 7GA v6 transmission was different. The 7GA was a 5 speed automatic whereas the 6GA was a 4 speed automatic. While there were some similarities, the 7GA was an improved transmission. Failures still did occur with it, but they weren't as often.

Thanks but what I was asking is if the automatic transmissions for the 4 cyl and V6 were the same in the 6th gen.

Gotcha.

B7XA (v6) and BAXA (4cyl) share some similarities, but are different transmissions.
