It really depends on the shop. Some shops only do what you ask them to do. Meaning, just the bumper, hood, etc without blending it in or even making sure it'll match. It's very hard to get the paint matched without painting an entire car. Also depends on location. I know around me, a very well known shop starts around $3K even for a respray. They literally will remove everything off the car and fix everything and spray. But in the end, you get what you pay for.

Plasti-dipping is a cheap way of getting it done. I've dipped my civic and my buddy dipped his accord white.
Same boat here - one of the top resto shops in my neck of the woods quoted me $3k for a very involved re-spray.

I remember seeing the pics of your buddy's Accord after his dip, and it looked gorgeous. I don't know how difficult it is to keep white dip clean, but it sure did look fantastic.
