Random Bird Bomb

Have a nice splotch of bird poop on an otherwise clean car. Haven't gone through the blackfire process yet. For now, okay to spray some dawn and water on it and let it soak then wipe off with MF towel?

After I blackfire, I will have some BF rinseless diluted in a spray bottle with water (quick detailer style). Would it be best, post blackfire, to spray/soak it with that product and wipe off with MF towel?

this is about the only thing I like BF waterless for - a bit more "stout" than rinseless but yes, rinselss in a bottle is fine...I keep this on my detailing cabinet for just this occaision. For "wheels and birds" ...Soak for 5 min and LIFT it off..

Bird Do-Do

well needless to say that bird crap easily burns into our clearcoat. I am wondering what the best way would be to remove the "etched" clear coat and make it look new again?

see the detailing section here...you need to polish it out...meguire's Scratch X 2.0 is a good place to start...
If its been on for a while. Polish will not bring it out. Im a detailed as most of you guys know and I was away in the summer for like 3 weeks and a bird pooped my rear driver side door and it looks like a bunch of little cracks in the clearcoat. It needs to be wet sanded which I still haven't done yet I've been too busy.

how long does it have to sit on there before it starts doing major damage? i usually spot the poop on my way to work or something, and when i come home at night, i'll take a paper towel and wipe it off, havent noticed any difference in the paint.

get it off with waterless wash in 24 hours and you'll have no problems...esp if you've sealed the paint when new and keep up on it...soak it with waterless, then lift and float it off with a MF towel...

waterless and rinseless on sale now at autogeek - see the BOGO thread in the detailing section...

Depends on how warm it is where you live. Anywhere really warm, get it off ASAP. Egg is another pita to deal with.

I agree with Glen. Start with the Meguiar's Scratch X and then put a coat of wax on the affected area. If the etching on the clearcoat isn't too bad, this should do the trick.

Having a coat of wax will help protect the clearcoat.

If you are in an area prone to this, and think you may not get it off in 24 hours, two coats of Collinite 845, 6 hours apart provides indestructibility to a paint finish - Dawn wash first....

Bird Poop Question

Quick car wash question. I have been waiting on my black fire products to ship, but still want to keep the bird crap off my car. I've been "rinsing" my car at the local car wash to get bird poop, pollen and dust off my car, but I can see remnants of washed off poop left behind on the car. My question is; will the dawn wash remove the bird poop "ghosts" or will I need to concentrate on that spot when I'm sealing my paint?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

my blackfire polish is what i use to clear it up. not much else works well if i dont get it off right away even after crystal seal

If they don't come off when you hand wash the car, there is slight etching. Should come off with compounding/polishing or just some Megs ScratchX. Even if you seal the paint, the poo can burn right through it. If you see a bomb, get it off right away.

I did have one last week that probably sat on my car for a couple hours. Came home and got it off with some QD spray. It left behind a little mark, but came out when I did a RW Friday night. So it must not have been on there long enough to get completely through the sealant. I have TPnS, WDAFPP, CS, and Midnight Sun wax on mine.

Try to fix the stain ASAP or else it might end up like my Insight...

I left it alone for quite a bit of time before actually doing anything to it and ended up like that even after polishing, claying, etc.
