Has anyone ever encountered a broken plastic trim piece on the driver seat - the part with the power seat switches? Mine has cracked at the tab where it is screw-mounted to the seat, and hanging down loose. The front trim piece that fits into it is also dangling. The switches still work. No idea how it happened - I never heard a crack.

Any experience with getting this fixed?

Thanks!

I have a similar issue. I noticed the other day it "popped" when I got out of the car. I looked at the trim around the base of the drivers seat and sure enough, the front piece had popped away from the side piece (where the electric seat controls are). It only came apart on that top corner of that junction and I snapped it back together. But now I notice it every time I drive. By the time I get to my destination and get out of the car it's popped loose again. Still audibly snaps back together but I can see it eventually wearing out and not staying together at all. I honestly believe it's simply a result of weight on the drivers seat. Anyone bigger than a 110lb female will probably cause that trim to pop loose over time! The heavier the driver the sooner I imagine. I'm pretty big so it's happened in under 14k miles!

Bring it in to the dealer, and they will take care of it, with no problem.

I 6'3", 260 lbs, and have never had this happen.

Good luck, and let us know what happens.

So glad...

to read this thread because my 2015 Honda Accord Coupe is doing the same thing. I'm well over 200 lbs but geesh. The dealer has fixed it twice under warranty but it's broken a third time. They told me I'd have to pay this time, and I said no way. Thanks for letting me know that it's not just me....

The front trim piece on my driver's seat came loose within 15,000 miles. The dealer replaced it under warranty. I'm at 35,000 miles now with no other issues.

Ok so the dealer said my warranty doesn't cover the seat n that I'd have to pay $100 deductible for such problem! My car has a lil over 20,000 miles mind u...so is there anything/any way that I can fix it myself for much cheaper?

I have a 2015 Accord V6 coupe and I have the same problem. The dealership tried to reattach it with limited success so they ordered a
new piece. This was in July 2017 and lasted until two weeks ago and the same thing happened to the new piece. Today, I was told the part cost is 177.00 which I didn't order. I don't intend to pay for it because it is obviously a defective design.

When this happened to the plastic around the seat on my 7th gen, I found a way to use some tiny screws to hold the two parts together. Maybe the same can be done here. I also used my dremel to trim some of the top part of the plastic where the seat cushion was pushing on it. If you take your time and trim a little at a time it isn't really noticeable just looking at it.

What happens is, over time the seat cushion wears down and starts pushing out on the plastic trim. The only way I found to alleviate the pressure is to trim off some of the plastic, so the cushion has more room.

I suppose you could prevent it by avoiding putting a lot of pressure on the outside edge of the seat, but if you are wide-bottomed it may be unavoidable.

If you are like me, and sit on the seat sideways (with feet outside the car on the ground) to clean the door and window, I (we) need to change. It puts a lot of pressure on the outside edge of the seat cushion, and will probably lead to the same issue I had with the 7th gen.

Same issue, almost identical scenario on my 2014 Ex-L Accord Coupe. "Repaired" 2 X under warranty - dealer told me next time was on me at $200. Next time was about a week later. I'm a big man (roughly 240lb), but this is a frustrating design flaw.

2017 Honda Accord Coupe - Driver's seat - same issue

It is great to hear I am not the only one. This is so frustrated, started having issues at 10,000 miles and just over one year old. They tried to fix it multiple times. I contacted Honda and just got the feedback from the case manager. It has something to do with the design of the seat (of course), but until there is a recall nothing will be done. They consider it "damage". I asked her - how did I damage it - by sitting in a seat? I guess I have to duck tape it. It is a car I wanted to keept, but this really ticks me off and they do not care. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just happened to me recently after around 107K miles. I'm not small by any means, but the part dangles off now and it's annoying to see whenever I step into my car.

Has anyone gotten a quote other than the $177 listed above to get it fixed? I'm likely going to go the tape method if it's anywhere near that range for something I imagine can easily be fixed (DIY).

Got my oil changed this week and asked the dealer for a quote on my seat trim. It's getting worse as it's apparently 3 parts that are connected together. Can't miss it whenever I step in or out of my car now...

The quote was roughly $450, and he recommended that I find the OE parts and get the job done elsewhere (or there for much cheaper). I'm definitely leaning towards the duct tape option now, but it's sad because the worse it hangs, the more my seat dips and potentially eats into whatever is still hanging on. All my power functions still work since the cables are connected, but it's so sad to see.

I've had the same problem with my 14 EX- Cpe for that past year, and now I'm going the duck tape method. I only have 61k miles and its annoying but I've gotten ridiculous quotes of $400+. I want to trade it in soon, and success stories of replacing it and it lasting?

Also, not the thread but has anyone had the oil consumption issues? I just had my block replaced at 60K.

Get some tiny screws, and screw them through where the plastic parts overlap. You need to drill tiny holes for the screws. It will look better than duct tape. It might also be necessary to trim the plastic with a Dremel (carefully) where the seat cushion is pushing out on it. It worked well on my 7th gen, even after I took it apart and put it back together years later.
I wasn't going to buy new parts, just to end up with the same issue again.
