On my saturn I built a DIY pressure bleeder out of a garden sprayer which applied pressure to the top of the master cylinder, letting me solo bleed the brakes at home. I was told such an attempt would damage (or not work) with ABS brakes.

Since I might have to break open the system sometime soon chasing down an ABS error (but at least now can have help if needed) can you home-bleed ABS brakes with a partner stepping on the pedal, or does something involving the ABS create any problems?

I head read elsewhere (probably the saturn boards) that it was not recommended on ABS systems in general because something that modulated the brake pressure could become damaged. Since I didn't have ABS I didn't look further into it at the time.
