Having some problems. Noticed some hesitation and jerkiness the other day while driving to work. Had the CEL codes read. CEL revealed codes P0301 and P1399. I've changed the distributor cap and rotor and plan to change the plugs/wires. Other than that, what else could cause "cylinder 1 misfire" (codeP0301)?

Noticed a little oil on the bottom of the distributor cap, perhaps this is causing some of the issues?

Any help is appreciated.

Oil on the bottom on the D-cap is usually from a bad valve cover gasket. Oil in the d-cap is not helpful, so definitely get it fixed.

You should do a valve adjustment while you have the valve cover off.

For your misfire you can read this thread

This one might help, too.

Thanks for your reply. I ended up replacing the D cap, rotor, plugs and wires and it seems to have fixed the problem. Allbeit temporarily I fear due to the aforementioned oil on the distributor cap. Probably a leaky valve cover.
