sorry.
one and 40, and 80k..

Curious what the interval will now be between #3/#4 and #4/#5

Curious on the CVT filter also, Haven't noticed much talked of it
Yes, 9th gen Accord and 9th Gen Civic do have CVT transmission filter, using same part # .Dealer charges about 300 bucks for both transmission filter and fluid change. Most of the time, they just leave the filter intact for transmission fluid service.

If it's just a matter of draining a few liters of oil and replacing the plug can't this be done once a year with the engine oil?

Huh!

I did not know this; I am a bit confused because it seems like the only filter I can find out is either Honda part number 25450-P4V-003 or 25450-P4V-013 and unless I'm mistaken - this requires the pan to be dropped?

The diagram that you shared seems to be different and seems to indicate this is serviceable without the pan drop. What is the part number and where is this filter?

(planning to drain my CVT fluid @ next oil change, around 30K)

No pan drop is necessary since the filter is not located inside the oil pan which the 9th gen Accord doesn't have, but the CVT warmer..The CVT warmer assembly is right below the battery.Without battery removal prior to servicing the filter, you have no room to access to it. There are 2 hoses connected to it, both are transmission cooler lines coming to and from the radiator. Inside the CVT warmer is the transmission filter that needed to be serviced for every 60k-90k interval. The user manual of 9th gen Accord doesn't mention servicing the transmission filter. Therefore, people might misslead into believing that this is lifetime filter and service is unnecessary. It's completely wrong since filter will be contaminated clogged up to a certain fluid change interval.

Well, that's special.

Kind of like the transmission inline filter on the 7th gen. A 'lifetime' filter that never needs servicing. A bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy, that...

Thanks, @lazytomcat!

IF I didn't have a "lifetime warranty" on my drivetrain, I'd certainly be draining/filling every 20-30K miles.
Yes, fluid is cheap and tranny is super expensive. DIY tranny fluid change even with 3 drain/fill costs only 150, but a faulty tranny due to dirty and contaminated fluid costs alot for repair and rebuild.

Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I can see, this filter is for v6 auto transmission. CVT fluid filter is inside the fluid pan, called fluid strainer. if you have done it on cvt, then it's another filter that i didn't know.

Seems to me that the parts site is not ambiguous that this is indeed a part for a CVT transmission... and a V6 did not use CVT.

I can also find an aftermarket filter which is also marked for the I4 CVT transmission. Beck Arnley 044-0383.

This really seems to be a Thing. Seems like this is used in the variety of Honda / Acura vehicles, as well as in the 9th gen Accords:

All I did was drain and fill at 20,000 mi.. Drain 4 qt. and fill 4 qt. Ill do it again at 40,000 and 60,000 and...

Most trans fluid changes done at dealers, shops and the like, are drain and fill. Including your Honda dealer. Some drop the trans pan on standard auto transmissions (4-6 gears) and drain and fill, change filter. Some of those will use the machines to draw and exchange and leave the filter alone. On my auto trans(s) I always drain and fill and change filter at 50,000 mi, and never had a trans to a shop for any issue. Most of those cars driven to 200,000 mi.with no trans repairs. So I figure if I spend $40 every 20,000 mi. changing my CVT fluid earlier than recommended by the MM I should be in pretty good shape. Also that's changing the fluid almost three times more ofter than the MM says, if you figure the MM says to change about 55,000-60,000 mi. Basically I'm getting the wear and tear crud out of the CVT. Think of it this way, your draining the worst of the fluid at the bottom of the sump where the particles of worn trans tend to settle.

Others will speak up on how they do it, this works for me. Cleaner fluids will never hurt your car! We like the CVT.
Not sure about the MM... But in the Manual book it states should be changed at 25,000 miles. Changing it earlier wouldn't hurt. I would change it every 10k-15k to keep the fluid clean.

Why not change the fluid every 11K - 16K miles? What about 10.5K - 15.5K? Or is that dangerous?

Manual for my '16 with CVT says MM code 3 is when to replace CVT fluid with this caveat:

Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or trailer towing results in higher transmission temperatures. This requires transmission fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If you regularly drive your vehicle under these conditions, have the transmission fluid changed every 25,000 miles (40,000 km).

which is typically called severe duty..

every 10-15k Painfx?!?!

Holy &*&&&
why not swap a quart every weekend?

Owners manual, under Maintenance Minder. Attached.

In other words - 25K for "severe" interval. Otherwise follow your MM.
