Cooling fans

My daughters 2014 accord sedan exl started to over heat at times. Both fans will run but I had to push the blades to start it spinning. Are the fans bad or are they somehow not getting enough juice to start? Thanks

Turn the a/c on. Do the fans start running on their own?

My fans only run when the ac is on just like the other member mentioned. It does however cycle on and off as it should.
Both will run with ac on but a few times I had to push the blade to get it spinning. With ac off one will run when temp gets high enough. A few times the heat would rise and I had to push the blade on that one too.
The fans are controlled by relays, each fan has its relay. It could be a coincidence when you turn the fan it comes on. The way to test the fan(s) is to get a jumper connection from the battery to the fans, that eliminates any other issues.

Man, only 9 years on OEM fan motors? I was in a similar situation with a 6th Gen Accord, but it was close to 20 years old. I checked the plug for voltage, yup, okay. Plugged it into fan, no joy. Gave blade a push (actually had to spin it a couple times) and it ran, but very weakly. Bought a NOS OEM fan motor on ebay.

Troubleshooting: first make sure electrical power available when it is supposed to be available, that will narrow down what works and what may not be working.

Thank you guys for the information. I think my daughter said it has around 160k on it. I was wondering what is the chance that both fans went bad at the same time? I sure do miss cars from pre-1975, so simple to diagnose. I really enjoy my Civic coupe and Accord sedan, just wish someone with a 17 lunar silver coupe 6-6 would decide to put the car up for sale.
There's 0% chance they both went bad at the same time.
