28 year old no kids live in the Washington, DC Metro area commute is about 20 miles and that's to and from work total I've been stuck between the Accord Coupe V6 and the Sedan CVT or V6 and I'm about two weeks away from having to settle on something. Any pros and cons about both anyone can add I'd greatly appreciate it.

Welcome!

I was in your shoes about a year ago. I have a few questions for you:

Do you enjoy driving your friends around?
Do you have a dog or any other regular passengers?
How important is the backseat?

I opted for the coupe over the sedan because the backseat was not that important for me. My friends aren't very tall so no complaints come from being in the backseat.

I do have a golden retriever who sits in the back or occasionally at the front seat, clean up is usually the only chore.

I weighed all these things before deciding on the coupe. It is a very comfortable car, and I do enjoy not seeing very many other coupes in my area. V6 all the way.

This really is a question only you can answer.

The obvious question is.....do you need to haul people around? If so, get the sedan. When I need more space, I use my Nissan Murano.

The biggest difference between the v6 sedan and v6 coupe is going to be if you decide that you want to row your own gears, then the coupe is your choice because the sedan only comes with an auto. If you want the sedan and manual trans, then you get the i4.

One of the main reason why I love coupes so much...is for the bigger doors and not having the pillar between the front and rear doors right at the side of my head.

well if your 28 you'll probably be having kids soon so ask yourself, will i want to buy a bigger car in a few years? will i sell it for something that fits my needs? if your hard pressed on a coupe, why not go for something sportier? Gen coupe, BRZ/FR-S?

I only drive myself mostly and still preferred the sedan no question. It's easier to get out of tight parking spots with the shorter doors, and having access to the rear door for packages and things I don't want rolling around in the trunk makes it so convenient. Only negative, and it's a rather big one, is that you don't get paddle shifters in the sedan and nobody has figured out a way to add them on later and probably never will. And V6 all the way, else I think there are better cars out there if you're just looking for an I4.

The backseat of the coupe, judging from having to drive my 6month old niece around, is good for one carseat.

I also test drove the Genesis and toyobaru twins, both had pros and cons as well. It really all came down to the tech and value of the Accord for the price. BRZ/FR-S backseat would be a tight fit for a five year old.

Sedans are clearly more functional. I have a coupe and must put my briefcase in the trunk every morning instead of the rear seat. As a general rule, getting stuff in and out of the rear seat is not easy. Having a rear door is so much more convenient. The Coupe also has longer doors. When I open my car in my garage I must be more careful to not hit the wall. It is also a heavier door than a sedan’s door. In my experience, those who want a coupe just know it. They want that sporty look. If you have to ask about a sedan or coupe, my guess is that a coupe is not screaming out your name. Get the sedan. I would have bought a sedan but Honda does not mate the 6MT to a V6 in the sedan, only the coupe.

If I recall, the Metro DC area has horrendous traffic. Based on that I’m guessing you prefer an automatic. The I4-CVT is a great car, particularly in city traffic. If you like power and don’t mind lower fuel economy and a higher purchase price, the V6 Accord is an amazing car for the money. That would be my choice.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I currently have an Accord Sport and in the process of trading for an EX-L V6 Coupe.

Among other reasons, I want to trade for the Coupe because of the added amenities compared to the Sport--- LED headlights, smart entry, sunroof, additional power, and probably a little bit better handling since it's a two-door.

Don't get me wrong though, I really like the sedan and almost think its a little more comfortable to drive given the angle of the windshield, pillars, etc, but something keeps drawing me to the coupe.

Plus you don't see many coupes compared to the sedans.

Be sure to let us know what you decide---I will be test driving a *** EX-L V6 Coupe tomorrow and I found one in a manual--Tough choices to make.

Good luck with your decision!

Though my FRS was a ton of fun for about a year and a half, it got tiring not having the room and power(though mine was modified). I traded it in on my Accord Coupe and could not be happier. I can haul two adults in my Accord back seat comfortably. You would have to chop your legs off to sit in the back of an FRS. Good thing about those small cars is the gas mileage and the cheaper insurance compare to the accord

At 28 I'd have gone with the coupe. But that was way back when 4-dr sedans pretty much screamed old and practical uber alles. Being way too familiar with DC metro and it's traffic, I'd suggest a hard look at the I4 cvt for a mostly commuter. I have a couple close friends there that have those in EX sedan trim and they're quite happy with them....one came out of an Audi and the other out of an older Merc. Me, I'd get a V6 sedan 'cause I don't like the cvt, prefer more power, and don't mind the city fuel mileage penalty that appears to come with the V-6.

If you want a family sedan, and want to save some money, buy the sedan.

If you're on the fence, why spend more for the coupe?

The sedan is more practical, and is easier to get in and out of day-to-day. The coupe is the only car you can get with the 6,6.

If it was me at 27, it would be the 6,6.

For my money the coupe's styling is better and it looks sporty. I also drive 25 miles each way to work and get a solid 30 MPG with the I4 and the CVT. The car has plenty of power and makes my commute fun. Oh, the best part is that I don't have to take my mother in law around town. :notworthy

My wife has been driving a V-6 Solara for the past 14 years and although we rarely take anyone with us it is way better with the sedan than the contortion act getting into the back seat of the Solara.

The thing we enjoy most about the sedan over the coupe is the smaller doors which makes life so much better in our garage. I now have room to pull the trash cart in between the Frontier and the EX.

Your choice of engines should depend on the type of driving you encounter on your commute to work. If it on a freeway then either one should satisfy you, if it is all stop and go then the I4 would be a more economical choice. If you do not worry about your expenses then the V-6 would work either way.

Good luck.

Sedan.

Besides the length and weight of the doors and the once in blue moon backseat passengers, there is the hauling lots of stuff from Sam's and having easy access to both the trunk and back seat. Even a quick trip to the grocery store is better in the sedan than a coupe because of the back seat access. Oh, and my bowling ball bag fits nicely behind the passenger seat and doesn't roll around in the trunk.

Have I ever owned a coupe? Yep. Two consecutive cars. And the last three have been Sedans.
