Hello everyone,

It has been a while since I last did anything to my car, so I thought why not make some change.

I got the Vintage Gold dip from DYC and here it is:

Second coat:

Cleaning up:

After the sixth and last coat:

Thoughts?

not a fan of gold. looks clean tho. thing is, why didnt u take the wheel off? cuz if you were to spray mounted, that means the inside didnt really get covered....?
not a fan of gold.
What color do you think would look better?

I agree, I had the same thought initially, but it doesn't really show up that the inside didn't get painted. + Saves time and $ + it was a test for plasti dip.
I am curious what an alternating dark gray and lighter gray would look like. or maybe a dark gray then black.
Looks good, Not a huge fan of gold either but its different at least. My first thought was hope you dont need to take one of the wheels off any time soon and scrape up the 'dip on the lug nuts.
kudos for not going with basic black. at least nobody standing 20 feet away from your car will think you are rolling on steelies.
I do like the contrast of gold on black, wanted to do that with my Grand Am back in 09, but gold plastidip wasn't around yet.

IMO, I would have taken the wheels off. Two reasons:

>mask off the "H" on the centercap
>no overspray all over the lugnuts

The lugs are going to look like crap once they're taken off with an impact gun or just a lug wrench. Good excuse to get different lugs, maybe even a lightweight set.

oh, I haven't thought of trying an alternating pattern. Maybe my next dip will be. I am not sure about having a mat-black color on a gloss-black car. Also, gloss-black wheels are a no go.

Just remembered that I am doing a tire rotation soon :(

definitely don't want that .

I agree, it is a good combination.
Yeah, I am still thinking about a way to get the H back. My thought was to print a same-size H logo on sticker-paper, stick it on the logo, and peel it off after painting. Will take care of it with the next dip.
Also, I meant to paint the lugs because they started to get rusty corners as a result of wrenches and impact guns. I should get new ones.

IMO, black wheels only work on thin spoked wheels, negating the steelie look.

But then again, I think steelies can be cool.

EX: my old Grand Am.

These are the same wheels that are currently on my Accord. Black doesn't work so well with silver, that's why I went gunmetal. =]

a random thought came to mind the other day for me. seeing as my car hasnt been cleaned in a while, my rims got a layer of .. something that makes it from the stock v6 ex-l rims that are like silver to a darkish gray. i kind of like it..

i would dip my rims but two are scratched from a few years ago, hitting a curb turning into a garage while sleepy =X still hurts me a little to see it every time T_T

I am interested in seeing pics of these wheels on the Accord, do you mind sharing some pictures?

Actually I would encourage you to try plasti dip. It helped hide some of the curb-scratches off my wheels. Even the ugly ones got a little better.
It looks good but I would like it a lot more if you didn't paint the lug nuts and center cap. It would look more like the wheels came that way.

Pics of my Accord for ya, OP.

Are you really solicitous about what total strangers think about your car as you drive by them ?:lmao:

I will try to peel it off the lug nuts before peeling it off the wheels.
As for the center cap, do you mean leaving the whole thing in original form, or just the H sign?

Neat ;)

Yea the whole thing or just a black H would look good. Just to create a little contrast in the center of the wheel.
