HI guys!
I haven't been on much because class and work has pretty much swallowed my life, but I'm hoping you guys can help me with this small issue I've been having.

It started with my aunt opening the door at the exact same time I was unlocking it with my remote.

It ended sort of jamming, and now I can't even manually pull the lock. It's effectively shut.

The lever still has resistance.

Any ideas on what to do?
I've attached a video I recorded to demonstrate the situation.

Wondering if you have to disconnect the car battery for a few seconds because this is some sort of electrical/alarm security thing?

This has happened to me before I click the remote twice to unlock the passenger door just as teh passenger lifted up on the handle. Result: Door did not unlock. I had to wait two seconds, press lock on the remote, then unlock again.

You may want to try gently pushing in the door (from the outside) first.

I can't imagine both the lock actuator failing AND the handle cable snapping at the same time....

You can take the door panel off while the door is shut if you are careful. I bet that little green end of the door handle cable got unhooked and just needs to be reattached or it broke and the cable needs to be replaced. They have a tendency to snap right at the thin part. Even if it is broken, you can pull it to manually unlock the door for now.

Thanks Rick, i've tried waiting a couple of times and it just doesn't loosen its hold. I'll try pulling the battery.

The thing is that the inner handle still has resistance. Normally my experience has been that when the cable breaks, there is absolutely no resistance on the inner door handle.

This is a great question. :crying

i have a spare door latch and I can't reproduce this problem. I suspect the door actuator got unlinked into a weird condition where it stays locked. roll down the window and have someone help you pull on the latches while you lock and unlock manually and with remote simultaneosly. if that doesn't work you'll have to open the door panel to get to the innards.

I had a similiar problem after changing the door lock actuator and bought the spare to understand how the latch worked.

not sure if this picture works, but the first picture in the blog page shows the actuator arm just above the drawn circle. that's where your problem is and either the arm is broken or it got away from the latch where the arm pokes through.

since your video shows that the lock is jammed and won't move, it means your door lock actuator arm is not broken. definitely work the remote with the manual unlock

Thanks man! I really appreciate the help. I'll try it in the morning. :)

Any luck with this?

I think if you still don't have it working just pull harder on the lock while you click the remote and forget about the latches.

Update:
Sorry I didn't abandon the thread, I've just been swamped with assignments and work.
I'll try it tomorrow first thing in the morning!

do you have to remove the seats to get the door panel off from the inside?

You have to remove the interior of the door panel, make sure all the links to the lock are in place. If they are you have a bad lock mechanism. You have to get the door unlocked to replace that mechanism. I did the same repair on a Honda Civic. It is not easy.

thanks a bunch. Just going to take it into shop. Repair looked like a little more than I wanted to handle myself.
