Hi guys, new to the forum and fairly new 7th gen accord owner, got it about 2 months ago. 07 I4 coupe & it's my baby. My first engine mod was a hps short ram intake. But my question is; what would you guys recommend next? I feel as though Honda really didn't want us modding these cars, they definitely didn't make it easy. So any input from some seasoned owners out there?

Power increase mostly, sound and looks is always a plus. Like the intake I installed, did it for the HP/TQ and throttle response but i do like the sound and looks that come with it

Sell it and buy a V6. Really. The 4 bangers are not powerhouses and you will spend so much (time and money) for so little power gain.

You are not a chick, and your car is not some dude project who will blossom under your direction. It is what it is.

This x20. Of all of the threads I've seen come and go through hear in the little amount of time I've been a part of this community, I've definitely learned that the i4 just doesn't compare to the v6. If you really want power, sell the i4 and buy a v6. Otherwise, have fun modding a car to your aesthetic liking :)

Lol yea that's pretty much the general answer when it comes to modding a 4 banger. I asked that same question when I signed up. Yeah you may love it and it does a lot for you, but modding for performance is pretty much a waste and it'll still only be a "slightly" faster Accord. Selling it isn't so easy when you're paying on it in my situation but modding for looks does serve it's purpose, I'm always getting compliments and I barely did much.

In that case i'll probably just stick with my 4 banger, still a great car either way.

Only reason I asked was I had an old scion tc( same engine pretty much; 2.4 160 over 160) but it had a TRD supercharger. Come to find out Honda has no TRD equivalent :headbash:

Stock accord still better though ;)

Player: Congrats and welcome to the 4 Banger club....remember, the scion and Honda may have similar displacement, but only Honda has the Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC).

You absolutely can modify the 2.4 for power, ktuner will have an ecu for us soon, then the skys the limit! Built motor, turbo, you name it. Engines are pretty robust as well
I don't know about you, but I don't have money showing up in my toilet bowl every morning when I wake up and take my morning dump. Even then, the V6 would just be better anyways!

The aftermarket for the k series is huge, parts readily available, and stuff for the v6 is minuscule in comparison. I would take dohc ivtec any day over a single cam engine. If you can afford an accord then you can afford to spend some money on legitimate work, otherwise why would you be on the forum? Granted, they are heavier cars but there is so much more potential with the k24

that's not true.. toyota has their own version(vvt-i)

But thank you! Seriously stoked on the honda so far:D

Swap out the head for an extra 30 hp. Just need a complete donor head from a TSX or Civic SI (k20a2 or k24a2), along with manifolds, maybe TB and ECU. Or throw a turbo on it.
Really? new header will really increase horses that much?

Thing is, you can spend a lot of money modifying the 4 cylinder, and an unmodified V6 will still leave you in it's sohc dust. The modifications needed to give the 4 cylinder V6 power, will also likely make it unreliable.

You can to the TSX intake manifold swap to go along with the intake you put in. I'm considering doing this for mine, but I need to winterize my car now, so that's on the back burner right now.
