Engine rattle from 2K - 2.5K RPM
I need some help identifying a rattle noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. It is a metallic rattle sounds that comes on between 2k - 2.5K RPMs. I took the car to my mechanic and I did a power brake while he listened with the hood open trying to pin point the noise. He believes it is the timing chain or a turbo bearing. The car only has 88K miles on it so it is hard to believe it is the timing chain and I would think if it is the bearing I would hear it whenever the turbo spools regardless of RPMs. Thanks in advance!

Yes, there wasn't much engine movement under load. I think we will replace them just to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestion.Have you checked the engine mounts?

No, I don't have a catch can. Thanks though.Do you have an oil catch can? if you do, check that.
