Hey guys... just like everyone else, I've been lurking here time to time to find out about this new accord. I just saw one yesterday for the first time in person.. and i got to say she looks mighty HOtt!

Right now I drive a S2000 but i need something more ... Practical? S2000 has been my daily driver... and it's time for me to part with.... so sad...

with that said... VA residents...
anyone know of a dealer/salepersons that they might want to refer me to in VA area? I did the online thing.. but call me old fashion, but it's easier for me in person... I think I will go in this weekend. and some info on where you got your vehicle, what model (spec), price, experience.... etc.. etc..

for the rest....
I got a quote from an online salesperson for a coupe. I have a friend that wants to get an accord too. so this will be a possible TWO accord coupe the dealer could move but they say the price is firm and cannot negotiate... what do you guys think about that? i think he quoted me $29800.00 (OTD) for an ex-L w/ NAVI (4 cyl) and $32K + for the V6.
will that be a good deal or what do you guys think???

hm, i got my car at tysons corner in NOVA. i got a decent deal, not the best (details in my sig).

syed from rosenthal honda isn't bad. he really wanted to sell me a car, and he was sorta nice (he got mad when i wouldn't budge though). can't really recommend him, but i had a feeling he would have given me a better price (but that whole dealership didn't have the accord that i wanted). he plays dirty tricks, like most other deals though. your job is to see through it.

almost 30k OTD for an exl 4 cylinder is WAY too much. seriously. i think if you shop around, you can get it for at least 2k cheaper (anywhere in the US).

dont forget youre going to have to pay property owner tax.. which is going to be A LOT.. for a car like that, we're talking about $1,000+ in the first year. most counties dont tax the first $1,000, and have a tax relief up to $20,000. then, anything after 10,000 youre paying purely 5% for it. 500+570.. so a little more than $1,000 youre paying for taxes. f that!

I work for Brown's, but the Fairfax Mazda location. We have a Honda store out in Arlington which I've heard good things about. You can take a look at the website and then contact somebody if you see something you like. http://www.arlingtonhonda.com/index.htm If you guys are into modding your Accords or just want to socialize we've got a group on gen7accord.net that meets up from time to time around Northern Va. If you're interested I have the same screen name over there and our Meet thread is MDVACM

nice, i wouldn't mind going to one of those meets.. maybe people can figure out why my car shakes mildly when it's cold.

Def be glad to have you, we just had one in Manasass last weekend. As for the shaking I've got a mechanic at my dealership that does all of my mods and regular maintenance that could probably look at it for you. He's good and doesnt try to rip you off. He's been working on my car for about a year now.

I'm getting mine from Pearson Honda in Richmond, VA... above invoice, but below MSRP.

i got a sedan though. i originally got the best price from fairfax honda, but i got honda of tysons to knock off another 100 or so off the price to seal the deal.

only reason i went with tysons corner is because their accord had less miles on it. (im weird like that).

e-mail josh in fairfax honda or jerry over at honda of tysons corner. im sure jerry remembers me, as im pretty sure i was his first car sale in the industry.

West Broad Honda, Richmond

I got the first 08 Coupe at west broad honda in richmond for 25 out the door. It was a EX with a couple of dealer installed options. Didn't have much room to haggle since it was so new. But they were really easy to work with except after I agreed to buy the car the business manager tried to sell me everything and the kitchen sink as far as service and maintenance goes. I did get the extended HondaCare warranty, but I got it online from another dealer for a lot cheaper.....

ah thanks, but actually.. i still have about 10 months on my factory warranty (or about 9.5k miles). i should probably bring it in to the dealer, but i doubt they'll find anything.

btw im new to the area, dont even know how to drive with snowing conditions.

I went there once... they were quite rude and flat out unwilling to budge on anything... my sales guy at Pearson was very willing to work with me (below MSRP, no dealer add ons, no pin stripes or dealer logos, etc).

But if you want to be the first I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

What color coupe do you have? I haven't seen any on the roads yet.. only a few sedans.

When I tired Pearson, they only had a LX-S in stock, I actually had West Broad take off the pin strip before I took it, I have no idea why someone would pay to have that on. Mine is polished metal with a ivory interior. The only other coupe I have seen around the Richmond area is a blue v6, other then that nothing, and a hand full of sedans.

I'm in Northern VA (fairfax county). seems like all the dealers are pretty much in sync with their prices. and most of them I dealt with online, said that their price is in stone and won't bulge... their lost... i got a guy in MD that is willing to deal so i'll try there.. hopefully this weekend....

i think it's better to deal with them in person. just as the consumer is weak, so are they.. especially towards the end of the month. plus, when you're there in person, and show that you have all the information (such as your checks and pre-approved loan) their eyes will bulge and they will want to "earn" your business.

Just to chime in on what blks2k02 said. It' not really their loss. There's a million people out there that want these cars and the dealer and salesperson are goin to make a nice profit. It's really in a way your loss trying to save a couple hundred bucks. Even if you do save a couple hundred, you spent it in the time you are wasting and the running around you are doing. I am a salesperson and most consumers dont recognize a decent deal when it's staring them in the face. Everbody is too concerned about what the other person is making, trying to make a living.

i disagree, it is the dealer's loss. especially around this time of the year. i had to go to about 3 different dealerships before i ended up getting my car, and most of them were pretty empty... at fairfax honda, i was probably the only customer in there both times i went in. maybe that's why they were so desperate to sell me a car.

btw, since you work at a dealer, you probably have good insight on this.. what do you think about my deal? it's in my sig..

You have to remember what dealers you are goin to as well. Even though it may have looked empty Fairfax Honda is part of the Rosenthal organization. They are one of the most profitable organizations next to Pohanka in this area. Believe they arent losing anything. And like I said in this particular situation it's about supply and demand. The 08' Accord is in high demand because it is a Honda and it's the newest redesigned Honda, and it's an Accord. Now if we were talking about a civic, element or Pilot than I would agree. As far as the deal on your car, that was an excellent deal! We just sold a 2004 Ex sedan 4 cyl with no leather with 28K for $15,999 plus tax, tags, and processing fee.

abailey... you're right. the dealer is not at lost, cause they probably sell so many that losing one or two clients ain't a big deal... dealers are never at a lost, cause like you said... supply and demand... there is always a demand for new cars. but i look at it from the salesperson's perspective... could've made easy/good comission/profit of selling TWO accords very easily "for couple hundred bucks" he could've went home with couple of easy sales. sales is sales... that's my two cent.

i guess the new accords are pretty HOtt in demand... i just happened to pick Fairfax honda cause it's closer to where i live and work, but it seems like they really dont want to bulge cause they are so HOtt in demand right now.. don't have a lot of choices either... in colors/tirm/etc..etc..

i think there is nothing wrong with trying to get the best deal...whether it be couple of hundreds or couple of thousands...!?!

Apparently they did lose out on an easy sale which is very sought after in our business. I never said there is anything wrong with trying to get the best deal but I think people get so caught up in that they lose sight of reality. Time is money, and if you spend a whole weekend driving around to 8 dealers wasting valuable time and gas over like $300 bucks then to me it doesnt weight out. Now if you do all that and end up saving like $1000 then it makes sense.

abailey,i agree with you..spending too much time can be a waste sometimes, and could end up costing you more, BUT i spent 3 weeks looking for my car because it's my first purchase, and ianted to walk away knowing i got a decent deal.

at rosenthal, they offered me an 04 ex v6 sedan for $16k+ttl (but charged a PDI fee), which would have brought it to 17,500 after all fees. this car only had 14k miles! it was a good deal, but i didn't want to take it because im not into the 04 sedan. for me, it was also about compromise. i didnt want to make it for the car i didnt want.

i dont think they can do that... salesmen have managers, and those guys are the assholes who pressure them to squeeze every dollar out of you.
