Front defogger and A/C

Someone did respond and they said it was not possible.

How would this work with the models that don't have a knob for the fan... Mine has the up and down arrows. I have the radio/HVAC that allows me to set a passenger temperature as well.

Well that just sucks. I hate that I always have to run the compressor. I also hate that when you push the lock button with the passenger getting out of the car the fob does nothing and you have to wait until the door is shut to lock the door. Most other cars I have owned you can press the fob, you will then hear a chime from the dash and as soon as all the doors are shut the computer sends the signal to lock the doors.

I have the auto climate and you can turn on the windshield, and floor vents, without the A/C on, by using only the up/down fan buttons, and the mode select button, not the auto button or the defrost button. I don't think you can select the windshield only though. Just hit the A/C off button, then control the fan with the up/down buttons, and direct the air with the mode button.

Are you sure that when the AC light is off the clutch is disengaged? Before I did the mod, my AC light could be off, but if the defrost was selected the compressor was engaged.

Yes, the compressor is off. The display will say "A/C off" and the fan will still be blowing through the windshield vent, and of course the floor vents. There is no selection for windshield only. When I want heat on the windshield, I usually want heat in the rest of the car too. I didn't do any "mod". This is how it's always worked.

PS: Car has auto climate

just did it on my 05. i gotta see what happens when the motor is running. i hope the compressors clutch isn't spinning when the condenser fan is off.

the stock setup does make sense, but at a cost on the mpg. well i can always disconnect the battery, input the battery code, and poof shes back to stock configuration.
