When I had my Integras, a common security mod/layer to do was install a hidden fuel pump cutoff switch somewhere in the cab...switching it off would cut power to fuel pump, not allowing a would-be thief to drive away with the car. Just curious if anyone has done this on their 9th gens?

Isn't that what the Immobilizer system already does on the 9th Gen? You can't start the car unless it recognizes the key, or the fob on push/start models, because, among other things, it turns off the fuel pump.

And there's this warning about the Immobilizer in the manual for my '16 Coupe:
Do not alter the system or add other devices to it. Doing so may damage the system and make your vehicle inoperable.

Have not heard of anyone doing this on a 2002 and newer car.....

Immobilizer handles this stuff now.

I had the same setup in my Integras years ago. Those also had the minimum required insurance for the state of Florida because I was broke. I now have full coverage and gap on my Accord so if it gets stolen, I get a new one and I will give zero ***** about it.

Was just curious if it was still a 'thing' or not. I remember people doing it on their 00-01 Integras, which had the immobilizer, and on RSX's. They did them as a backup to the immobilizer, in case it somehow failed.
I won't do it on my accord, I also have full coverage - no sweat off my back if it's stolen lol.

@RickBlaine, I'm assuming you were the one to colorfully edit my asterisks to what is currently in my previous reply but what I was actually implying was another colorful word this site tends to blurt out. I put the asterisks myself rather than let the site do it for me.

True sir- I was on the thread and sometimes I get there before the asterisks appear, sometimes I am late to the party.

I will re-edit, go back, and use the asterisks for our rated PG guests. :)

I figured it was you that did it. You're the only mod I've seen edit posts with (BOWEL MOVEMENT) in the years I've been a member here. Not knocking but its what I've noticed.

Ya. I had a fuel cut off along with a keypad password alarm system in the 90s on my Si, and it still got stolen. Since that day i stopped spending money on aftermarket alarms, if the thieves want it, they'll get it
Pretty much. A car being towed away with alarm going off isn't even something to think twice about. Most are like "Ha, what tool couldn't keep up on payments on a car from 1999?" when it's actually being straight up stolen. When I worked at a dealership as overnight security in VA, the repo teams would literally repo cars all night and stack them there to later come back with a car carrier for them.
