Hey folks, just thought I would get some of your knowledge here. I am going to look at a 6th gen LX sedan 1999, manual transmission. Anything to watch out for specific to this model?

Is that a timing belt or chain on that model?

Belt on the F23 (I4).

Not much to really look out for. Josh did a lot of looking for these models most recently.

How many miles? Any airbag lights on?

I have a 99 EX I-4 AT
You won't have the tranny concern obviously. It's a timing belt as mentioned on the 4 (changed mine at 105k). At around 125k miles, I had the interior bulbs start going out that have all been mentioned on the forum here (clock, cruise button illumination, etc). I have been dealing with the intermittent hesitation from rolling stops but I'm almost sure it's attributable to dirty throttle body. Lastly, my catylitic converter internals have broken up just enough to throw the occasional Check Engine Light code...but that's after I passed 140k mileage. That's the worst I can report to you. Mine just keeps on going.

I'd check the obvious signs of wear and tear and look for any leakage. Come to think of it...that's what happens at my annual doctor's visits now.

Yeah...that would be a good thing to check. Those cars are pretty bulletproof. The cruise control light and the clock backlight tend to burn out...but both are very easy fixes.

Is the car an additional car or are you planning some vehicle changes?

Let us know how the purchase goes as well as the necessary forum pictures we will demand.

went and drove it. Looks great except for one small dent in the rear wheel arch (parking lot thing). They only want 3900 for it and we negotiated them down to 3700. The only caveat is they have a friend who has 'dibs' on it, but they are going to talk to the friend and see if they want it or not. If not, I guess I'll be picking it up. Seems like it will be a great car if the deal works out.

Its got 110 k and one of the dash (prndl) lights is out.

That is a good buy. Hope you can snag it...I would....I know I would.

And here it is...

Picked it up today. We put a deposit on it a while back, because he was going to be moving in a few weeks. Today we paid and picked it up. Snapped one quick shot. Black LX sedan with spoiler. Manual with about 106k. $3800.
