Took me a few hours and taking my time looking for a good spot for the ballast's to go for both the headlights and the foglights. So I decided to take off the front bumper, its not hard at all, took all of 5 minutes to do that.

Anyway, for the headlights I ended going with a 55watt 6000k H11 kit which have digital ballast, supposely the in thing..lol

And with fogs I went with 35watt 2000k H11 "yellow" kit, which also have digital ballasts.

And to say the least, I love them both and highly recommend them.I know a guy that deals with a place and got me a good deal.If anyone is interested in both kits maybe I could pass the deal along but would have to contact him to see first.

I recieved an email form Todd at http://www.retro-solutions.com/ ,he can't do the same deal as he did for me but can still save some people some money. If you went with the same setup as me,35 watt fogs and 55 watt headlights both digital ballast and lifetime warranty it would be $320 shipped. Regular price is $350 shipped. If you wanted them in just 35 watts i'm sure its cheaper, just email Todd on his main page there and mention what I said and he'll take care of you.

On with the pics!!!

More pics below on post #8 & #15

These first two are showing where I mounted the fog light ballast's,its just mounted to the fog light bracket using double sided tape and 1 tap screw holding it on.

These next two show where I mounted the headlight ballast's,mounted using the supplied tap screws.

The rest are with the headlight on w/ fog lights and some with just the headlights. They may look a little strange on the ground and some glare look on the garage door but it started to rain and i think it was reflecting.

So whatcha think???!!!! Any questions I'll try my best to answer them.

The cut-off looks nice, although I have a sneaky feeling that people will be royally ticked off driving in front of you because of the 55W HID system, I don't know how many lumins the 55W system has, the standard 35W system has 3 times the lumins of the halogen lights, so the 55W system might be some 5 times brigher, which just might be too bright and become irritating and inconsiderate for other motorists in front of you and coming towards you from the opposing traffic.

Don't be too surprisd if you get pulled over by a cop because of this, and please do let us know if this does happen so that others may learn there is a legal and curtesy limit of how bright the lights can be on public highways.

looks new, any pics of the front of your car with them on?

- did you use any double sided tape to mount your headlight HIDs?
- was taking off the wheels really necessary?
- i haven't quite taken a look at the front bumper, but do you recall how many screws were required to be removed to take off the bumper? (ex. 4 bottom, 2 sides, etc.)

thanks!

There in a projector housing so having the cut off has no glare.I ran the same 55 watt 6000k in my cobalt in projector housings for 6 months, been behind a few cops and never a problem. You got to figure stock is 4,300k which is brighter then the 6000k anyway so going with 6000k in 55 watt is probably somewhat close to a 35watt 4,300k maybe I don't know. But 55 watt hid in a standard halogen housing I would say yes glare would be everywhere and blinding i'm sure.

just curious, but are the stock foglamps aimed as low as your hid foglights?

since a couple weeks ago i saw on 8thcivic on a civic where the person's hid foglights had a much higher cutoff.
Not sure, they are still adjusted in stock locations,I haven't moved them, where you see them on the garage door it is about 25-30 feet back.

I just got this done tonight and snapped off a few pics before it really started raining,I'll take a few more from the front.

- I used the double side tape on all the ballasts along with the self tapping screws.
- Taking the wheels off probably not necessory but I had time to waste today so I took them off and made it a little easier.
- I can't remember but a close guess, there was about 10 screw type clips on the bottom of the bumper,8-10 on top and 2 screws one on each side inside the fender well.

very cool taffy

thanks for the pics, I got my 6000k h11 kit installed last wednesday evening and went through the fender wells with the wheels on and no bumper removal... It was a bigger pain than other cars I've done the HID conversion on because of cramped space. however, the results were amazing and when my mother gets her san marino v6 coupe delivered in a few months, it sounds like i'll be doing the same install for her (drove both parents to my grandmothers about 600 miles roundtrip, all at night, and they loved the clarity out on the dark open road, really shows signs well and animal eyes , ie deer)

The bumper removal seems very easy after my close examination during the install, I was just hesitant because no one else on here had outlined the process and folks made it sound like a cinch to do it through the fender wells with the (skin cutting) plastic pried back.

Actually, the install wasn't hard..it was the rotating and pulling out of the stock h11 bulbs with the three tabs that was a royal PITA. At one point I swore they had fused my bulbs into the projector holders, but I was being careful as to not break any of the retaining plastic/composite material the projector/holder/locking mechanism is made of by excessive force. I do not see how this could ever be convenient to change out for the ordinary schmo driving up to autozone . It looks to me to be a case of design, placement of the headlights/equipment before function/access of/to the bulbs for replacement.

After removal of the stock bulbs, installation on each side was a snap...and i got the ballasts mounted securely and safely on the adjoining metal platforms next to the low's

With bumper removal, the fogs would be much easier to access and convert. Thanks for the post... i'm def in the mrkt for some 2k or 3k h11 lights for the fogs now after viewing this.

As other have stated..the lo-beams can stand to be aimed a few clicks higher because for me, from the dealer ...my halogens were a tid bit low, and it was real evident after the HIDs we first turned on against a white wall...maybe all are not like this, but it sounds like it the norm on 8th gen coupes.

looks great. judging my these pics, the ground pattern, and the spread of light, the accord coupe projectors handles HID's very well. I honestly think that a retro is NOT necessary!! woot!!

do you think you could take some output shots of just the headlights

Taffy...you beat me too it. I got my HID kits and havent had a chance to do it and looks like I wont get to mine until I get back from vegas...looks good man..i like it

wtf...

dude...

its like driving in daylight

damn!!

lol, You can tell in the sky line it looks kinda light out.It wasn't it was 10 pm and black skyline, just long exposures does that.
I took all these pics on a tripod.Taking pics at night is hard enough then taking them with lights is even harder. These are long exposures maybe 30-45 seconds and makes the light look a tad brighter then they really are. I would say that one of the 1st pics up top on 1st page facing out of my drive way is the closest look to what they really are.
