Welcome back, Civic coupe.

"So, hon, I know we only bought the TLX a couple of years ago, but I'd like to discuss the potential of the new Prelude..."
Thanks everyone. Just need to rehearse this a few times for our dinner conversation tonight.*

* - We get pretty good Wifi in the garage, so I'll let you all know how this goes as I'm settling into the emergency cot later on.

Your TLX might be more comfortable. 😆

I think it's overpriced for what it is.

lol $41k and Car & Driver said they thought it would be more like $30k.... that's quite a bit of a difference.

I am very curious to see how many they sell. The Accord coupe was discontinued due to lack of sales they say... so they're betting this Prelude will sell not just slightly more than the Accord coupe but a number big enough to make it worth adding to their production line...

We all know what the current car market is like.

Good luck Honda.

You spelled 2nd gen CRZ wrong. 😅

No manual option? 😒
I saw this build at my local cars and coffee the other day. This was cool.

Reminds me of what Doug Demuro said here, Honda is afraid to do different things.

Outside of the price, this Prelude is full of weird choices. Why the CTR Brembos for 200HP? Why the dual axis strut front suspension? Does it really matter? Shared adaptive damper with the CTR. I get this is gonna be build next to the CTR, so parts is easily available, but these things add cost, for features that most consumer isn't gonna care. This is gonna be a weird slightly upmarket thing like the Toyota Crown that few are gonna buy. The Crown sold 19K cars last year, the Camry sold 309k, the ES sold 43k. The Crown starts only $2K less than the ES, $12.5k more than the Camry. I can see the Prelude following the same trend. Sandwiched between the Civic and the Integra (except the Integra is cheaper than the Prelude). $12k more than the cheapest Civic hybrid, $8k more than the cheapest Integra.

Oh, the CTR is only $5K more. Although probably aimed at a different crowds.

I'm pretty disappointed by this, to be honest. Honda brought back a nameplate without any of the classic characteristics that made the car special. No H22, no 4WS, no manual transmission... Honda's thrown a manual in a hybrid before (think: CR-Z, Insight), so we know they're more than capable if they wanted. On top of that, it's projected to be entirely too expensive.

I can too easily see this new Prelude going the way of the new Supra and Z... struggling sales from the start, introduce manual transmission option as life support, but it will be too little too late. Prelude nameplate gets tarnished as collateral damage.

Sorry, @Ash051 , I can't hear you over the Prelude hype video I'm watching on YT currently...

I don't necessarily agree with Doug overall - Honda historically has done some really different things (e.g. oval pistons) and is crazily diverse products wise. That being said, reliability doesn't seem the same as it used to be and I have had too many WTF were you thinking Honda moments in recent times...

I think he meant recently, not in the past.

Right. I think this is a joke. It looks nothing like a Prelude.

The good life must be an incredible experience!

I like the shape of it. For me, it would need to have at least one of either a manual transmission OR an AWD drivetrain. I am not yet ready for a car that doesn't have a shift lever of some kind. If we're going to remove the shifter in the middle, we might as well just give new cars a bench seat in front so my wife can rest her head on my shoulder and hold my right hand that is no longer required for the driving experience. Honestly I could even go back to a column shifter at this point if its all going to be electric anyway.
