Having trouble deciding which Accord to get. How did you decide on the trim level you ultimately bought?

All my life I've been sensible and bought the LX models - this time I decided to treat myself and get the top trim level and not look back. But - I didn't care too much about the extras you get on the Touring (for the $$) so I went with the EX-L.

Favourite feature - probably the heated seats - real nice in NE Ohio during the cold months.

No buyers remorse at all - still love the car after almost 14 months.

My most difficult decision was going with the i4 or the V6. Ultimately, I couldn't see doing add-on features that I liked on the V6 models...the LED DRL's and the dual exhaust. I did favor the MPG's of the i4 and basically left it up to a last minute decision and a face to face. I fell for the first white orchid pearl with a V6 and ivory interior with the navigation. With the amount of driving these days the V6 was an easy choice. I purchased on 09/13 and as of today I just rolled over 300 miles, so MPG's didn't really matter too much in the end. Driving to the dealership today was a joy and I'm happy with the V6 decision. Imo, all the trim levels look good, even looking at some of the Sport models in the showroom were awesome looking. I did not operate too much on budget restrictions as I'm in retirement and made the decision to purchase new vehicles for the wife and I....she went with a Nissan Pathfinder and the Accord for me. I've never had navigation in a vehicle so I wanted that, and the plastic coated leather was just fine with me, firm and fitment. A lot of tech features with the EX-L trim level was a plus also. The Accord is a great value car for the features and performance..

Well, what's your budget? There is a big spread between LX and Touring in terms of price. If your limit is $25,000, let's say, then your choices can be narrowed down.

Other than that, you need to tell us what you consider important in a car. For example, some will only buy a manual car (or vice versa). Some want the best MPG, not the most power (or vice versa). Some must have leather interior. Others a sunroof. Yet others a Smart Entry system. So on and so on.

Having owned Hondas in the past I initially starting looking at the EX. Usually the EX has features that are worth it over the LX, at least in my experience. So me and my wife test drove the EX and thought it was great. We were also considering a Mazda 6 Touring at the time. The Accord ride was more comfortable than the 6 for my wife. That was the most important factor in choosing the Accord.

Then I researched the differences between the trims. The Sport seemed to be a great value. Some of the features of the EX were not a priority to us, such as the sunroof, push button start, or the option to get leather. I think the rims on the Sport are better than any stock sedan on the market. The Mazda 6 had 19/225 rims which are uncommon and expensive to buy tires for. I also liked the other visual enhancements on the Sport and the interior. The price just happened to be right so that's what we went with. Also, I use it to commute to work so the 4 cylinder was my preference.

The V-6. It was the only trim with Homelink.
That's how it started but once I test drove one and compared all the other trim levels, the V-6 won hands down.

Took me two days to decide between the V6 with the works excluding the touring package or the Sport. I ended up with a white Sport because of the blk interior, dual exhaust and rims. I know the v6 packs a load of power and extra luxury options but I decided i could live with the i4 and cvt. The power on the i4 isn't bad at all, picks up when you want it to. As for the cvt it has its pros and cons, sometimes it will shift just like how you want it to and sometimes it holds the gears too long.

Already have an older EX accord (2005) so I pretty much knew the basic difference (and I had a 2002 SE before that), but for me it was the 6 speakers vs. 4 and the moon roof. I love driving with my roof open. Push Start wasn't a major factor. It's nice, but can be a PITA at times.
Also, didn't know it before I bought the car, but the EX has heated side mirrors which is huge in New England's winter (LX doesn't).

This has been my first Honda after my parents and eventually myself stayed a Ford family. These are the things that factored into my decision to get the LX.

- Price. I had a budget and realistically, the LX was almost the limit. I probably could have sprung for the Sport.

- Lack of features. Yes, you read that right. The less features you have, more often than not, the less can go wrong with it, especially if you plan to keep it 15-20+ years, as is my plan. The LX has manual seat adjustment. Love the fact it has no power seat adjustment. The seats are plenty adjustable and comfortable for me, plus they're cloth. NO leather for me. Didn't want push button start. Give me a key. Didn't want the touchscreen. Give me buttons any day. I don't have a smartphone, so I could care less about the smartphone integration. Waste of time to me. I have a little TracFone Motorola dumb phone from 2006/2007, only as an emergency phone. It can't do videos, it can't even do pictures, not even a flip phone. Basic as it gets. You may be shocked just after reading that to find out that I'm a huge tech geek... except it's limited to PC's... preferably desktop PC's. I kick it old school! 8) One feature I love though... USB stick. Probably THE most useful feature of all the tech. I'm also not a fan of the LED headlights. Yuck. Didn't need NAV... would rather not have it.

Those were the two main reasons. The Sport is a nice package. Didn't care for the instrument panel as it differs from the LX. Never have cared for a spoiler. The dual exhaust and even the 18" wheels would've been sweet though.

I went with the LX i4 w/CVT and it's been an awesome ride, with a few hiccups. I'm pretty confident I'll still be driving this car in 20-25+ years!

As always... YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Stick Shift + Sunroof = EX

For me it was as easy as that.

We got the passenger-side automatic up/down window and power seat for my wife who has diminished strength. I wanted the leather interior and navigation (I like bells and whistles).

I've always had strong engines, but this time I thought I'd try the I4 because steering/handling is slightly better than V6. Gasoline goes a little further too.

So we bought the I4 EX-L with Navi and are very pleased that we did.

I'm not a big fan of bells and whistles. I got the LX because it has more than enough features for me. The only thing I wish I had is the 17" wheels, but I might explore adding those when these tires wear out. At first I thought I'd end up with a Sport, but decided against the 18" wheels.

Actually, thetommyboy2k pretty much summed up how I feel about it (except I have a smartphone), but to be fair, I am liking Pandora and the rear-view camera more than I expected. The camera makes it much easier to back into my garage, which has a very narrow door that can't be seen through the side view mirrors. Since I only have a couple inches' margin for error, the camera's gridlines make backing in a much less harrowing experience.

For me was easy.. I was coming from a nice BMW 330ci with all the bells and whistles including low profile OEM 18" tires. So only choice for me was an EX-L since I wanted Satellite radio, plus the new fancy cameras. Also selected the V6 over the I-4 after test driving them, was like driving 2 different vehicles. I decided the extra $$ was well worth the V6 to me including the dual exhaust & nice 18" Wheels... Good luck

For me it was easy. I wanted leather seating so I had to go for the EX L. I went for the I4 because it is the newest technology and potentially will give me the best gas milage. I would like to keep this car at least ten years and gas prices are not going to remain low forever.

Priorities (in order):

1. Stick
2. 4 Door
3. Value

Sport was best value and the few extra "sporty" additions made sure it was the most fun to drive.

1. Stick shift
2. Leather + sunroof

= Left me with no alternative but a Touring

I agree!

You are a smart buyer! I totally agree with your logic. My 05 Odyssey LX is without VCM or power doors and has been trouble free. My 13 Accord LX CVT has been trouble free as well without many useless features that do not really work that well. My LX is just as safe as EX, EX-L or Touring. I doubt EX, EX-L or Touring has a better CVT or engine either. After 150k-200k miles on the car, EX, LX, EX-L do not matter that much when you have to sell it. You will collect less money on a trade if your power seat is not working or have a non-functional feature light on.
