So, I will be attempting to show you guys how to change your wheel bearings. I mostly observed my dad and gramps but I did manage to learn how to do it. Id say the difficulty is on par to doing the brakes, maybe a bit easier even. Please forgive me if I make any mistakes, spelling errors or mess up the format, not exactly sure how the redesign works lol :wink

1. First things first, jack your car up and put it on jack stands, you can lift the entire rear up and put the stands on either side or do 1 side at a time like I had to since i didn't have enough space all around the car. http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=230018 (1st pic)

2. proceed to take off the wheel(s)

3. You should now take off the callipers and rotors, just as you would if you were changing them however you don't have to take the pads off (unless of course you are changing them while you are doing this)
It should look like the third picture below, just with the bearings housing, i didn't have a picture of it with the bearing there (3rd pic)

4. here is the old one vs the new one. doesn't look too bad for having 230k on them http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=230050 (4th pic)

5. You can now take off the dust cap from the bearing nut. once you have it off it, undo the nut and take off the bearing housing, it should look like this http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=230042 (3rd pic)

I will continue in the next post as i have apparently hit the max file size limit

6. You should now grease the bearings, this is a 1 time thing and you should do it right the first time. http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=230058 (1st pic)

7. You can now put the new greased bearing on where you took the last one off, tighten the nut and and lock it into place, then proceed to put the dust cover back on http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=230066 (2nd pic)

8. once you are done putting the rotors and callipers back on, put the wheels back on and tighten in the star pattern.

9. Bonus pic of the valves I busted last September when the tensioner failed http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=230074 (3rd pic)

*Imm trying to figure out how to get the full image instead of the link, if anyone know how, id appreciate it if you could let me know by commenting or pm'ing me

Can you elaborate on how you took the hub bearing off? slide hammer is the method I've seen but the bearing's inner race often gets stuck which requires cutting or chisel and hammer to get it out.

it was quite simple actually, once i got the rotors off all i had to do was remove the dust cap and bearing nut, one assembly came of quite easily all i had to do was tug it out. The other was a bit stuck so i put some wd-40 on it and tapped it out with a hammer. Im lucky that nothing was seized or stuck. Id have a go at it with a hammer at it if it was stuck since i know I'm throwing them out anyway but be careful of the abs system in the bearings.
