My airbag light has been coming off and on for a few years now like the original poster. If I put my seatbelt on before starting the car, it stays off. If I start the car first without my seatbelt on, it lights up.

So this specific problem has a lifetime replacement?

From what i see on line its between 45 and 50 bucks plus in the US not sure for you all up north
for this amount of money, it is easier to change the SOB and be done with it.
Does it come with the sensor and all? Do I need to do any programming/learning with the new unit? It integrates to the SRS automatically?

My Airbag/SRS light came on a while ago. I brought the car into the dealership (Lodi, CA, US) this morning. They offered to wave their $75 diagnostic fee if the code was for something that they'd cover. The code turned out to be for the driver's side seat belt buckle and so they're replacing/repairing for free.
The dealership replaced the buckle today. After they replaced it they had trouble clearing the SRS code. They rescanned and it was now showing a new SRS DTC, 71-10 (Driver's Seat Position Sensor). They quoted me $141 for parts and labor to replace the sensor. If I can find some more documentation on the sensor I'll probably do it myself.

Does it come with the sensor and all? : It's a micro switch and it would dam well want to.

Do I need to do any programming/learning : No.

Integrates to the SRS automatically? Yes

My wife is sure they broke or forgot to connect something while they were under the seat. I'm going to check it out when I get home. I'm really hoping that I find that it's just disconnected.

Crossing fingers.

That was going to be my suggestion:

You most likely know this but just in case: Make sure you disconnect the battery and wait 3 or 4 minutes for the SRS system to discharge. You don't want to be plugging/unplugging anything to do with the air bag system if its still powered via battery or residual power.

Actually, thanks for the reminder. I had mentioned that same caution to a friend earlier today when I explained to him what I was planning on doing when I got home. Of course, I was JUST about to walk outside and take a look at the sensor but the idea of disconnecting the battery had already left my mind.

Saved me. Thanks.

I had this same code pop up on my 2001 Accord EXL. I made and appointment and took it to the dealer in South Portland, ME and they wanted $119 to confirm the 9-3 code I just told them. Then they'd order the part and in 4 days they could replace it for another $200.

Anyhow, I tried to open the buckle up, but there are no star screws. It looks like just a 3mm stud holding it together.

looks cheap and easy enough. There are 2 models for each color. What's the difference between say 04816-S84-A53ZB and 04816-S4K-A53ZB?

And a reminder for those who may be ignoring the light: the driver's airbag WILL NOT fire in an accident if that light is on due to this switch! I found out the hard way last summer...

Around 3 weeks ago, my airbag lamp started to turn on and off occasionally. I was not in a position to get the seat belt open and fix it again. I just changed the whole seat belt. As I promised I thought I should update here. I think I should have put a tiny (watch) screw driver around the seal of the switch during the first repair and have deformed it a bit.

Thank you Mike for the link and also the writing. It is well written. I can believe that the rubber gets sticky. I did not check mine though. I will give it another shot in a few month and will probably put a drop of thin oil on it.

I am having the same problem, but usually I could get it to stay off if I leave the key in ACC for a bit till the self check finishes, before starting the car.

Might have to look @ replacing the thing, but some websites lists different part no. than previous posts.

04816-SDA-A72ZA BUCKLE, L. FR. SEAT BELT (INNER) *NH167L*(GRAPHITE BLACK)

This is what I found but it's the buckle only.
