I was getting my service at my local Honda Dealer, when i saw the 2016 Sport in Red; I fell in love (except for that grill, I would definetly change that for the sport grill)

There is only one 6MT Red Accord Sport in Florida, dealer told me they would need to special order it. My question to all of you is, would that make it less likely for the dealer to haggle over the price? I know it is usually easie to negotiate for a car they actually have in the lot.

My payoff is only $8K; not sure how much they would give me for mine, KBB has it at $16.5K, that would leave me $8500 as downpayment. I gave a 11K downpayment on mine.......the more I type, the less I think I should do it....

But I really like it.....

You are going to get screwed on your trade in or on the new car or both, that always happens. All you can do, providing you are determined to do this, is go to several dealers and try to make the best deal you can. Sport grill does look nice and I think it would be fairly easy to put in. You could order the grill from one of the on line Honda parts places such as College Hills Honda and put it in yourself.

The San Marino Red is really nice. I was contemplating trading in my 2014 EX 6MT for a 2016 Sport 6MT in ***, but the more and more I thought about it, it didnt make sense both financially and from a practical standpoint. It's basically the same car with some slight improvements.

For me, it would be a downgrade losing all the features that the EX has. Dont get me wrong, the 2016 Sport is beautiful but very basic. For you, you'd be coming from a Sport.

Im curious to know what they would offer you for your 2014 and what kind of deal they're willing to give you on the new one.

There is no doubt about it, the 2016 models look waaaaayyyy better than the previous ones. Even though its the same body, the changes they made just turn it into a completely different looking car...IMO. If you like it that much then go for it! I know its more work, but if you are worried about getting screwed on trade in, consider selling it yourself! Or, not sure if you are financially in a position to do this, but you could also buy the new one then sell the current one. I have done that multiple times before with great success. That way you can keep the car all detailed in the garage and focus on selling it. Any Honda/Acura I have owned has been sold within a week to the first person that sees them.

My cousin used to work at an Acura and Honda dealership and told me that for Acura if it is in radius of 200 miles, they usually don't charge extra for shipping the vehicle. You can ask the Honda sales rep about that. I just bought a 16 sport 6MT in MSM and really enjoy driving it. I am thinking about the sport grille as well but my dealership is charging for $500 with installation. I know college hills has it for $288 plus shipping. But I am still waiting for someone to post the DIY video on youtube lol.

I think someone on here had a 13-15 Sport and replaced the his rear lights, with those of the 16. Which is the really the nicest thing. I don't really like the 16's 19 inch wheels but you could also get those along with the lights and still save money. Unless you wanted the 16 for it interior "enhancements."

I'm sure you would enjoy the 2016, but unless you are really displeased with your current Sport, I'd say save you money. It's a pretty lateral move for you. Yes, there are some upgrades, but nothing worth throwing money away for. The 2014 is a fine car and should last you far past the time it's paid off.

I've had similar thoughts about trading in my '13 EX-L i4/CVT Coupe for a Touring Sedan. Between the higher payment and the extra cost of fuel, I've figured it will cost me around $130 more a month, plus a few grand down and selling my current car outright once it's paid off ($5,000 to go). Could I swing it? Certainly! Do I want to? Maybe. But the idea of having no car payment and a car that I actually enjoy owning is too appealing to just start over with a new loan and a lighter wallet for me to make a jump right now.

I'd wait and get something better than an accord in the future. Never found the point of owning the same car twice.

You've got a really nice car now just be content w/ it. I think that's something we as car enthusiasts can struggle w/. We are always looking at the nice cars around us I think it can become easy to not be satisfied with what we have. My two cents any way!

I also have a 2014. I look at the pictures of the '16 and don't see anything that is better. Maybe a little different, but nothing that I would waste the money to change.Even the wheels, I really like the '14 wheels and know the new ones are lighter. If I wanted different ones, Tirerack has lighter ones that are similar to the '16, and don't cost that much, if you compare to trading your car in.

Sounds like OP really just needs to purchase 2016 tail-lights and 2016 Sport wheels/tires and call it a day.

Hell, even the 2014's Sport wheels are in hot demand, and he can get some money for them, given that they're in good shape. Trading i a '14 Sport for a '16 Sport is a "suicidal" move. It literally makes no sense.

Why would go for a 16' Sport from a Sport it would be the biggest mistake you ever made, Your driving the same freaking car, Your driving experience with car will not change I would understand if you interested in getting a 2016 V6 model from a 14' Sport then I will say go for it, You better off waiting for 10Gen Accord , What would happen when that model will be better then your 2016 you just got

well im from Canada montreal, Quebec, i bought a Touring 2014 for about 42000$ CAD and financing 5 years 3.9% 23000$ down payment and some other down payment as well now its only been a Year and 5 months that ive had the car and im only left with 6400$ to pay. the 2000$ extra includes 7 years warranty etc etc shit load of other stuff. '' apparently it adds to your trade-in value ''

I just went to check for fun how much my Touring 2014 would worth if i wanted the Sport 2016 since here in CAD its all equipped easily had all the option i needed besides the leather seats. SO i had to pay my 6400$ + 9000$ to get a Sport that has no accessories etc. i dont know how it works in the States ive seen people paying only 2k to get the next year model or something i really wonder how you guys do that but here in Canada whenever we trade in a car for another one you LOSE. and a brand new sport with taxes 15% is only 33 000$ compared to a touring cvt is 40000$ only 7000$ difference. A Touring 2014 used is being sold for 24000-28000$ they wanted to buy my Touring for 19000.

crazy how much your car loses its value in only 2 years. i cant even imagine a Touring 2014 for a Touring 2016.

To the OP, no as much as it is sexy and tempting, really never worth it to trade in your car unless its only 1-2k difference that i see here on the forum that someone traded in his 2015 for a 2016 and paid only 2k USD... that crazy wish Canadian market was the same. Even if i had a 2015 and wanted a 2016 itll be at least 6k+ the car loses already 20% the moment you get it off the DEALER.

Don't believe everything you read on here. These people that trade in their cars that are only year or two old take a beating regardless of what they claim.

I've considered trading my 2013 in for 2016 until hearing my trade. I owe less than what I was offered because I only finance for 48 months and I bought this car previously with no negative trade in, but my positive equity wouldn't even cover more than taxes so I would have just pretty much paid the last few years into nothing. None of the dealers I've talked to would budge on trade or price of the car so I pretty much said screw it. I was only offered between $8,900 - $9,400 on my 2013 and it only had 76,000 miles on it and I'm in the 80s now, it was no where near what trade value was on kbb from the dealers "blackbook" pricing. The dealer I bought my current one from even told me if I wanted a higher trade that I should probably talk to car max to buy it or even just sell it outright. So I'm just waiting it out at this point until it's paid off and I'll see if I still want to restart payments on another one. I drove my 99 civic ex until it was totaled so may just do the same with my accord.

It seems like you always get a better deal on a manual transmission car. The dealers don't want them and are stuck with them and they'll make a good deal to get rid of one.

This scheme usually works when the dealer has one or finds one at another dealer. Ordering one may not work because they have no real incentive to unload the car but you never know until you try.

Typical when they "order" a car they are just looking at other Honda dealers that are likewise trying to unload a stick shift car.

Rule of thumb is about $4k off sticker for a stick shift $26k car (buy it for $22k).

I was in the market for a leftover 2015 Accord Sport but decided to wait until I saw new ones in person and I'm glad I did but ended up getting a '16 EX 6MT instead of Sport. The '16s real stand out because of the led lighting and the new front and rear fascias and wheels. You could try to sell via Carmax or private party but you lose the 7% FL state tax credit for the trade equity.

I don't think I would make the same move within the generation and just wait for the '18 Accords to come out as there will be more mechanical improvements besides just the aesthetics. If they don't come out in manual you can get the '17 or go to a different company.

I am in Tampa Bay area and I find that it is kind of tough to shop for Manual Accords sedans sport. I was trying to negotiate a FL 6MT Sport online and they wouldn't budge off of the price. I ended up buying the only EX in the a 90 mile radius. After negotiating online, you need to actually drive to that dealer to get the lowest price and do this the last week of the year (if that Red is even still around).

If you decide to sell and want to part out (for example those leather seats), shoot me a PM as I'd be interested.

I wish that was the case in Ohio. My 13 is a manual, we bought it in Feb 2013 and they only had in stock, and they were only 1 of like 6 dealerships close to home that even had a manual sport at the time. They still won't budge on a manual 2016 in price and I just got an email from the sales guy today asking if I was still looking to buy one.

Nothing really, I just wished my 14 was available in the San Marino red; I really like that color; I also do like the minor interior upgrades; wheels, biger brakes; the fact that I can get sensing (not a big deal in my book)
