So, ever since I bought my car at 31k miles, there has been a squeaking noise coming from the engine after every rain and cold weather. When the engine runs with the drive belt squeaking, acceleration is heavy and idle is high. Now I am rolling over 58k miles, I am ready to change the belt at 60k, BUT dealers are charging over $200 for the replacement. I am a mechanic and I want to do the work myself... but does anyone have a DIY for the 4cyl drive belt replacement?? I searched DriveAccord already and only found the one for V6.

Here's the one for V6:

Now, does anyone have the link for the 4cyl 7th Gen??

Thanks!!

what is the recommended interval for this belt? and how do i check if mine needs replacement?
Examine the inside of the belt...if it's starting to develop cracks in the grooves, it's time for a change. This one was likely ready to pop.

I think I paid like $25 for my Gatorback belt at AutoZone. Took all of 2 minutes to install it.

Squeaking in cold or rainy weather is most likely the tensioner pulley. Common on Hondas to do this. Should be a long post in here on replacing it. Very easy. I changed my drive belt out with over 100K miles on it and it did not even have signs of cracking. $200 is a joke for an easy job like this.

same here, my 05 I4 did this from early on (10k?). I also put on a Goodyear Gatorback, and it is quiet as can be, highly recommended.

How much will a tensioner pulley run me? also, how can I tell if it's the pulley or the belt? If I spray WD-40 on the belt and little on the alternator pulley, the noise disappears. So, I'm thinking the belt? The noise existed since I bought home the car at 31k miles back in Aug 08 and since I have a 60k service coming up, I want to get it done.

Take the belt off the auto tensioner, then spin the tensioner pulley. It should spin freely and not feel notchy. It should also not wobble around. My auto tensioner is shot, so I'm replacing it soon.

You can also buy an auto tensioner new at Bernardi Honda:
