Hello,
I'm a Honda infotainment newb ... But a veteran of car audio.....

If I replace the OEM head unit in my 2016 LX .. I loose the upper screen.... So, what does that mean... What functions are lost ?

Thanks in advance !!!

There’s a lot of threads in group about your issue:

Once you remove the factory head unit, you’ll loose the iMid screen (upper screen)
What people do when they replace the factory head unit to after market like myself is to bury the factory head unit behind the dash. There are also some folks in here that they route the factory head unit in the trunk.

Metra makes a kit that is supposed to solve that problem too, but it's garbage based on the reviews and the progress of it's development I've followed over the years.

That’s correct. MetraKit is garbage. I tried it and removed and retuned it right away after. It’s so BUGGY and it’s not worth the price.

It's been brought to my attention that some members have swapped out the LX unit in favor of the EX and/or Touring versions.....

This would enable a good clean signal using OEM source to a DSP...

If I were to source a premium unit that offer navib and or car play.... Would this work in my LX ?
