I have the Blackberry 8830 World Edition and can't seem to import the phone book.........

Bluetooth works fine but the import of the phone book fails.....

Any ideas?

Sometimes mobile phones just aren't compatible. My dad had an LG phone and couldn't send phonebook info to his car phonebook, but he just got a new LG enV Touch and it works. :dunno:

My solution

.....something I found....first, make your BB 'discoverable' during the import process (this can be changed on the device, under 'device properties' from the Bluetooth device screen).

I found that mine would not transfer, because I had too many contacts and exceeded the Honda HFL capacity. I made a 'group' or category on the BB, which I named 'car sync'. I added those contacts that I wanted in my Honda phonebook to that category. * Note: this is much easier to do in MS Outlook or your email handling program, then sync the device and the category and it's assigned contacts will be there in your BB *

Now, in the same Bluetooth device screen, go to 'options' and select the option to 'sync selected categories' and then select your new 'car sync' category. Once I did this, I was able to sync the phonebook just fine (but it did take a couple of tries). If you need help finding the Bluetooth device screen and/or phon settings, please refer to your owners manual or disc for the phone (sorry, but I don't have time to assist with that).

Don't forget to go back and change the discoverable status of yor device to NO after you are done.

Well I will give it another 20 tries later tonight... lol

Samsung Omnia FTW!!! 5.0 mp vidcam. Business card scanner, auto smile pic mode, optical mouse, tactile touchscreen, accelerometer, winmob 6.1, fm radio, tv out, WI-FI!!! yes, this fone has Wi-Fi!!! Verizon only is the kicker, most exp damn service, but i feel its the best quality for shizzel. I live on the water & nobody gets service besides verizon people here.....

Yeah my blackberry wouldn't work when I tried to transfer it for about the first 10 tries, then I set my phone to discoverable and messed around with everything I could and it worked! I'll try again tonight to see what I did exactly.

So it worked after like the 10th or so try... Just keep pressing the button until it works... Must be a bug in the software....

Oddly, I found the only way to get my Blackberry Curve to Sync up was to:
A: Make sure the car is in park with your foot off the brake
B: Make several attempts, it usually works on the 4th or 5th one.

I have an LG phone that the Honda HFL would not work with for the phone book import.

With my Mazda, the import, battery and signal strengths all work.

Not sure why Honda's HFL is so finicky. :dunno:

It does work but you do have to try it over and over again until it works. Mine worked after about 10 tries. Just be patient and keep trying. My only problem was it did not copy all of my contacts. It said some were not compatible.
