Does anyone know if the interior dome/reading/map lights automatically shut off if left turned on in accident?

I went to my car late night to get some papers and accidently left the light on overnight... I noticed when I got inside my car in the morning.

My concern is that it might have affected the battery or maybe a fuse.

So you went to your car last night, turned on the interior lights and they were still on this morning. Wouldn't that answer your question?

There is no auto shut off on the map lights, however, the dome light should shut off by itself if left in the middle position. There would be no ill effects on the fuse from leaving a light on, but it can have a negative effect on the battery. If you were able to start your car without a problem then you shouldn't need to worry, but try to remember to shut off the map light! :thmsup:

In some cases, leaving the lights on could drain the battery and it won't be recharged unless you drive for longer distances/highway.

I really appreciate your detailed answer. I drove nearly 40 highway miles this morning so that might have helped! Thank you for the re-assurance and will definitely remember to turn them off next time!

This must have been what happened to me, I got into the car one dark morning and didn't notice the light on when I got in, but started the car and it was on, I assumed I just didn't notice. I think my daughter left it on the day before...

If you have LED dome light its fine. I left mine on bunch of times on over night or during the day. Every time I came back the car would start without any problems.
