I'm looking at buying a 2003 EX-L accord without navigation. Judging from the pictures I see on the web, it appears that the 2003 did not come with any type of satellite radio from the factory.

What I want to know is, would it be possible to hook up an iPod and a Sirius tuner to the factory radio in a 2003 EX-L accord?

or do I need to buy a 2004+?

Short answer is yes...however its not going to be truly "integrated" into the headunit.

Basically what you need to do is get an adapter like the USA-Spec PA11-HON2y and purchase an iPod and Sirius receiver (if you don't have them already). The USA-Spec plugs into the back of your Accord's radio, and then gives you the choice of two inputs, one being an iPod via a "dock" cable, and the other being a standard 3.5mm line in, which could be used in the headphone jack of the sat radio.

Here are two links for the unit:

Buying a 2003 or 2004 wouldn't really make a difference either, as only the 2006-2007s came with sat radio from the factory, however they all use XM and not Sirius.

Hope this helps.

My 05 has factory XM.

My mistake then...I know here in Canada even the 2006s didn't get sat radio (I think starting in 2007 some Hondas/Acuras do, but I'm not sure if the Accord has it or not).

Do you know what year the US got sat radio? Was 2005 the first, or was it already on the EX's in 2004?

I thought they got sat radio in 04. Isn't that one of the ways to tell from the exterior between an 03 and 04 EX, one didn't have the xm ant. and the other did?

yep. XM radio became standard on EX-L and EX-V6 starting for model year 2004.

I am looking at adding the same thing to my 03.

But I have an 03 with Navi. Can I use the same part recommended or do I need to buy the "y" part so I can keep my Navi working??

Thanks..
Technically the "y" part is for keeping other external accessories and not navi (so in other words if you want to add an iPod adapter but already have the external tape player, etc).

The newer PA11-HON2y comes with that cable built into the adapter itself so to speak, so you should be more than fine with it. The only issue I've heard from navi users is that you might have to pull the entire radio to find where to connect it (on the non navi units its either on the bottom or lower back of the HU, on navi units I believe its on the upper back, closer to the rear of the screen). If you search around someone posted a pic of the rear of a navi unit...which would greatly help you in finding the connector to use.

Cool, thanks!

Any idea what the "topic" would be that I'm searching for?
