I have a 2014 EX-L V6 Coupe (9th Gen). I was looking at photos and specs on the 2016 Sedan and Coupe. It seems both models are receiving a bit more than a normal Honda refresh. So will the 2016 be considered a 10th Gen, or will the 2017 be the 10th Gen with a more significant redesign than the 2016 is showing?

Honda did a good job with the design of the 9th gen. But i wouldnt be surprised if they are trying to style the civic and accord closer together similar to how toyota styled the corolla and camry.

Not sure that will happen for the 10th gen but it might...

Standard MO for Honda. A new gen. vehicle would be when the whole car goes through a redesign. The 2016 Pilot would be a new gen. Pilot.

Did they do an 8.5? Seemed like all the 8's are the same.
Yes. The 8.5 gen has a different grille on both sedan and coupe, reflector strips on the trunk lid for the sedan, new tail lights on the coupe, new wheels, new colors, and increased fuel economy.

2011 and 2012 were the 8.5G from a technical perspective...I don't think there have been any recalls for the 2011 or 2012 because by then they fixed everything. There were no changes to the 2012 from the 2011 other than cosmetic (trunk reflectors, new grill). 2010 kind of stands alone. The 2008 and 2009 are very similar.

Since '98 Honda's run a five year generational cycle with a refresh going into the fourth year. 2016 and 2017 will be the refresh years for the 9th gen. 2018 will be 10th gen intro.
