What is the cheapest car with an actual "launch mode"? The BMW M3?

I don't think the Honda Accord will ever have a launch mode...

Not only is there no launch control, driving the car the way described in the video is not only dangerous, it's also a good way to ruin the CVT automatic transmission. This is from the owner's manual about parking. I assume the part about depressing the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time applies to other conditions other than parking.

The following can damage the transmission:
• Depressing the accelerator and brake pedals
simultaneously.
• Holding the vehicle in place when facing uphill by
depressing the accelerator pedal.
• Moving the shift lever into (P before the vehicle
stops completely.

How is it dangerous to accelerate quickly from a dead stop? That video is of a Gti with the DSG twin clutch transmission. The launch control system disengages the clutch while the engine is revving. The cvt does not do this so, yes it would break the feeble contraption.

I used the wrong word. It's only dangerous if you do it at a traffic light where you increase your chance of getting into an accident. Street drag racing is both dangerous and juvenile. Jack rabbit starts are not good for the longevity of your car. They place high stresses on the drive train which can result in early failure of the transmission, differential, CV joints and other associated parts. It also wears out your front tire tread rapidly while giving the local police an opportuniy to write you a citation for speeding and, or reckless driving.

Good morning all!

I was wondering how other 6MT owners go about launching their cars. My previous "fun" cars have been RWD with LSD's, so hooking up was never a delicate affair.
It seems like every youtube video I see of someone dogging a 6-6 Accord includes ludicrous wheel hop off the line and wheel spinning all the way through first.

Clearly, this isn't the way to hit published 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, right?

I generally aim to have the wheels squeal a little through the engagement point of the clutch. I rev to around 2K and don't drop the clutch, but let it slip as quickly as I can while maintaining good traction.

Thoughts?

I assume you mean on a track, because otherwise you're talking about street racing, no?
