+1, if you're just looking at the engine and disregarding potential weight differences, tranny differences, etc., just look at the engine specs.

Your friend can eat it.

How does he like them apples.

As far as economic/performance i-vtec in the accords, it's more economic. Our engines only get VTEC on the intake cam vs. the Civic SI/Acura RSX/TSX K-series have vtec on the exhaust cam as well. You can tell especially when comparing the 190hp/162tq k24 in accord to the 201hp/172tq k24 in 09 tsx. Significant difference from the added valve timing control and im sure it has a slightly more aggressive intake cam profile which id actually like to find out if it can be swapped out for the intake cam in our engines.

But i digress... I do have one question. Do our engines have direct injection? 10.5:1 compression/ratio is high for 87 octane. My H22A4 prelude was 10:1 but used 91+ octane. So what gives if it isn't direct injection? How does Honda prevent detonation?

I have both 7th and 8th gen and the 8th gen engine is definately better. that extra 30hp does help a lot when you need to make a quick turn or change lane

Which car has a more linear power delivery?

Gen7 makes 160 hp @ only 5500rpm
Gen8 makes 190 hp @ lofty 7000rpm

fuel economy: definitely Gen7...
power: definitely Gen8...

The 09 TSX is same mechanical engine as ours except CR 10.5>11.0 and possible slight cam changes (not sure here but cams are not same part # ).
Look at previous TSX with Vtec on both intake and exhaust vs 09 with only on intake. They lost few hp at top end but gained 10 ft/lbs of TQ .

no direct injection on K24 or J35 .

Not according to EPA numbers, don't they both have the same numbers an 08 EPA is a stricter test .

wow so even with almost 200 HP, the i-vtec is only in the intake, w/ only 2 lobes. so the new 09 tsx has a performance type i-vtec? they have the same engine code basically as well as same 7100 redline. so did the new tsx downgrade or they just upped the torque? there's not much information on these new k24 z series..

I thought 7 gen was 166hp? thats what my sticker says
