Quick question about locking lug nuts. I have some from my last car that were too big to use. They are 1/2-20. Does anyone know if they will fit a 9th gen Accord? Yes I know I can Just try one, but it's getting cold outside! I think the Accord is M12x1.5. Not sure if a standard thread converts to any metric thread.

No the threads won't fit. Plus honda wheels have a pretty unique "ball-seat" and most other lug nuts use more of a cone shaped seat that won't fasten the wheel properly.

Not sure, but I would say skip locking lug nuts altogether. Thieves know how to take them off without the key.

Best solution is to move although anything can happen anywhere. Next, have good insurance. When I visit my parents in Richmond I felt better with locking nuts but only had them on 1 car ever and I don't think about it on cars without lock nuts. My brother lives in Philly and is far more concerned about getting rear ended.

Locking nuts are a visual deterrant like a steering wheel Club but won't stop someone who really wants what you have.

Yea, I live in a safe neighborhood. Truth is, they are factory wheels, so comprehensive insurance covers them. Just wasn't sure if there was another solution akin to locking lugs.

A motion detector alarm would certainly fit the bill but even that can be worked around by a quick team. They could loosen all 4 wheels, lift either side and yank 4 wheels in about 20 seconds with your alarm blaring.

AFAIK there is not an effective alternate to wheel locks. Wheel locks can be defeated but not by the average punk without tools. They may just move on the the next car when they see your locks.

I have those on my car. They're cheaper than oem and look better also.

5 different sets of locking lugnuts would be a pretty big inconvenience to a thief. I also thought there were locking ones being made that pounding a socket over wouldn't work to get them off.

There are literally hundreds of threads here about this problem. The general consensus is like drowned12 mentioned: You have to make thieves waste time. 5 different wheel locks on each wheel means they will have to carry a lot of sacrificial sockets to pound into your wheel locks. But still, in the right circumstances.....

My cousin in Brooklyn bought a 2014 sport and IMMEDIATELY yanked the wheels off, sold them for a small fortune, and bought regular 2013 Accord wheels with plenty of cash left over. Having sport wheels in Brooklyn is like flashing an expensive watch in Paris at night- just a matter of time.
