I bought a new 2009 coupe last night. Looks great, and drives well, but my excitement was quickly dampened by some annoying rattles and creaks.

I popped a CD into the dash and began hearing an annoying buzzing noise with every bass note. I found some interesting info on that problem here on the forums. Should have cranked up the volume on my test drive :grumpy:

Worse yet, there is a creaking noise coming from the passenger side of the car. It occurs mostly when I accelerate, decelerate, or go over a rough patch of road. A passenger rode with me today, and she thought the noise was coming from the passenger seat itself. The noise seems to be a lot worse when nobody's sitting in the passenger seat (probably why I didn't notice it during the test drive).

I could only find this thread discussing a passenger seat creak. It was suggested there that the entire seat needs to be replaced. Has anyone resolved this issue, and did the passenger seat need to be replaced?

Yeah I'm getting the same rattle/squeak.....very annoying

Dunno about the seat, but as far as the bass rattles go, you have to expect a certain amount of that in a car that starts at 22k, especially since the sub is mounted directly below the rear deck. Best bet would be to put on a thumpin song and go into the back to hold down different parts to see what's rattling and then go from there.

I got the same thing going on with my passenger seat. Check the seat belt where it connects to the floor over by the door. Thats where my noise was coming from. All along I thought it was the seat and it was the seat belt. Maybe its the same for you.

I dont hear anything coming from my passenger seat, but my driver's seat creaks when I go over bumps or even shift in my seat. I'm not a big guy, so it's not size issue, it just appears that the seat wants to creak. Although i'm hesitant to bring it to the dealership as i've been there 4 times in two months for various problems with my '09 Coupe.

Definitely starting to wonder about what happened to Honda's build quality..

i play my music loud so, i dont hear no stinking rattle

That works great, unless your speakers rattle too. Regarding the speakers, cubanoconhonda, I don't think a factory speaker system should cause rattles when operated at a normal volume, $22k car or not.

As far as the seat creaking goes, I checked the seatbelt, but the sound is definitely coming from the seat itself. I'm going to drive the car for another week or two, take note of any other problems that spring up, and bring the car to the service center.

Despite these two gripes, I love the car overall.

my drivers side creaks when anyone gets in and out of it ...

she's in the shop with 7k of damage so im going to get her back and she if shes still doing it

when I bought my 09 in oct it came with a nice annoying loud squeak in my passenger seat. Anytime I would go over a bump you would hear it, and the back would shack. When someone sat in it it would be a grinding squeak. I brought it in and they took it out and greased everything they could and tightened all the bolts, one of the main bolts from the recliner was loose. Havnt heard a squeak yet, they said if it happened again they would replace the whole seat. And to the rear shelf, the third brake light was my big issue and was now resolved by taking it out..no need with for it with a spoiler brake light. tint covers the hole right up.

I have 8k miles on my sedan and passenger side started to rattle about 2 weeks ago and its gradually getting worse. I thought it was a door panel trim but when i hold down passenger seat with my arm, the rattle goes away. So i assume its coming from the passenger seat. Although my rattle seems very severe compared to other drivers. Because it rattles all the time. Slight imperfection on a road would creak my passenger seat like crazy. I'm waiting for my next oil change since the dealer i go is 40 miles away from me.

$50 worth of dynamat will cover the whole rear deck and drastically reduce rattles.

Do you have sunglasses in the roof holder? Take them out and that may solve your "seat" rattle.

I've found that my rear deck was squeaking a little when I was driving - I thought it was b/c of the cold. I only had the problem after I unclipped the rear seat belts. The other day, I re-clipped the rear seat belts and the problem was gone.. no more squeaking...for now. Perhaps its something to do with seatbelts in general?

Ive found that noises are very difficult to locate in this car due to the acoustically reflective interior... I had a window that was only slightly open, and for the longest time I thought I had a moonroof leak because I couldnt pinpoint the noise. One morning it sounded different that the rest of the days.. it turned out my passenger side window was very slightly cracked open.. closed it, the noise was gone. Almost took it to a dealership!

Moral of the story, noises that sound like they;re coming from one place can be sometimes mistaken. :)

I too am a recent '09 Accord coupe buyer and have had the exact same passenger seat creaking problem under acceleration / deceleration conditions. The biggest new POS car I've ever bought in my life, an 88 Escort GT didn't do stuff like this. Something isn't well with Honda QC compared to the last Accord we had, a 95 EX (superb car BTW).

The Honda dealership replicated the problem and replaced the seat subframe / mounts. It fixed the problem for all of 2 weeks and guess what - the noise is back again just like before. Having it sound like grandma is in a rocking chair next to you in your car is not enjoyable that's for sure.

To top it off the red airbag MIL indicator has now come on so it's certainly time to go back to the Honda dealership again. If I have any further luck in getting a real solution / fix I'll post it.

I have he same issue with the passenger seat. It's a known problem with 8th gen Accords and Honda has recognized it. At least in Canada, I know my Honda service and parts reps have started a work order for me and confirmed that it's a factory problem related to the seat track/frame. Honda Canada is replacing them with new ones if dealerships can confirm....

As for other noises, my driver side door panel seem a little loose and I'm having them look into that as well this weekend. I also have the mysterious snapping/crackling glovebox noise....any known fixes for that yet?

Mine just started making noises at 1,500 miles. They're coming from the passenger seat and/or door, but not loud enough to bug me yet. Somebody claimed to have found the culprit, but didn't specify what fixed it. Since I didn't have the problem, didn't bother to ask :headbash:.

Guess the known issues with this car is not IF you have them, but WHEN they will rear their ugly heads :lmao:. Take care.
