Whats up everyone!

So here I am. I've owned my Sport for over a year and it still has the new car smell. Every time someone gets in the car they mention the new car smell and how strong it is. Anyone else still have that new car smell a year later? Maybe they hid some "new car smell" packets in the car somewhere.

Mine still has the faint scent still lingering at 18mos. Some like it others not so much, I'm in the former category.

I am glad that mine does not still have the new car smell which was horrible. It took almost a year for it to go away, but now all is okay.

Yes. A year later I can still smell the chemical odors. Upon delivery, the new car smell in my coupe was incredibly intense. Stronger than any brand spankin' new car that I've purchased in the past. For the first few months we had to roll the windows down every time we jumped in the car.

It took me forever to get the new car smell out I had to use a lot of black ice over a 3 month span. The car smells a whole lot better. I would recommend leaving the windows open when the temperature is cooler for about a day then place any smell you like if its a cologne spray heavily or 4-5 air freshers. That should do it.

I like that odor. Mine went away after about a year. However, I rarly open the windows and run the AC on recirculate. Last year we had so few nice days that I didn't drive much with the sunroof open. Does anyone know of a car air freshener that has that new car aroma?

Off-gassing.

Ask Lumber Liquidators about that whole off-gassing thing. Not good.

The old U.S. Department of Transportation building in DC was a "sick building" that had to be torn down about 25 years after it was built. Lots of veneers, adhesives, and plastics that were in a sealed building- you could not open a window.

I remember member "okiescot" thread about the new car smell. That stuff can make some people sick.

People who ride in my car say it still smells new, even after nearly two years! I only notice it once in a great while. Must be the leather still releasing at least some of its scent.

It doesn't make me sick but I still enjoy the aroma even if it's not good for me. Fattening food is also not good for me. I always said that everything I liked in life was either illegal, immoral or fattening. I became a pilot so I had to give up illegal, I got married so there went immoral therefore the only thing left is fattening. Adding new car aroma won't make that much difference in my longevity. :grin

I was amazed to find the smell to be exactly as I remember my mom's 1999 Accord to have smelled when she bought it new. I for one like the smell; perhaps the same way I enjoyed the smell of leaded gasoline as a child.

i overwhelmed it with my gym funk. and no showers at the gym. that place is disgusting both the weirdos and the bacteria.

My 13 Accord had the strongest new car smell I've ever seen. Thankfully it mellowed out after a month or two! My last new car had hardly smell and after a few months it was totally gone.

I open the windows as often as I can and usually leave the sunroof cracked as well. Need fresh air. The smell only lasted a few months.

New car smell

I have EXL for 2 months now. The new car smell is still very strong. Definitely not pleasant. How long does new car smell last? I am in Mass., so although I am driving every day, very rarely to get window down.

As long as it isn't raining or snowing I often keep my windows cracked (and sunroof) overnight.

It took my EX nearly a year to get the bad smell out, just persevere.
