Hey everybody, My name is Adnan. I don't have a Accord yet but I am in the market for a new car and REALLY want the new coupe. I'm in love. Currently i drive a 2003 VW Passat and am tired of it breaking down.

I'd like some of you with 2010/2011 Accord coupes to chime in and give me your honest opinions about the cars. What do you like about them? What do you dislike? Anything I should know before committing myself to the Accord? As of now I plan on keeping the car stock and keeping it a clean reliable daily driver, but as most of you know not long after the mod bug will bite and before I know it the car will start transforming.

Also thought I'd add that I'll be getting the 4cylinder model.

Heres a few pics of my car right now...

then i got an oem lip kit and got rid of the wheels

Nice Passat man, welcome.
I'm on the exact same boat as you, only difference is that I'll be getting mine this coming Thursday.

I can't chime in as far Hondas are concerned but I'm sure you won't hear many negatives about the car.
Best of luck and FYI the modding bug never goes away.....EVAARR!

I liked the Passat too but its pissed me off one too many times. Its parked at my girlfriends apartment complex with a busted coolant flange. Its always one thing after another. Hopefully the Accord will be much more reliable, which i am 99% sure it will be.

Welcome!!!! I was in the same boat as you. I was tired of my VW (well, it was an Audi but same thing) breaking down all the time. I absolutely loved that car, but way too many times it did me wrong. I sold it about 3 months ago and bought the 2010 2.4L Accord. It was a great move, I love the new Accord.

I’m not sure if your VW is AWD, but my 03 Audi A4 was. One thing I will say is to upgrade the rear sway bar on the Accord if you are used to a car that handles well. Once I put the sway bar on, it was no Audi handling but was much much better. Once I get my coilovers, I should be close.

All in all, it’s a great car at a great price and lots of aftermarket parts for when the mod bug does bite you……

No it was not AWD, but with the suspension I have it handles very well. I wouldn't even think about getting rid of it if it didn't have half the problems it does. I'm just tired of throwing all my money into the car and at the end of the day its still a piece of crap old car. This will be my first BRAND NEW car and I plan on taking very good care of it, so hopefully i don't see any major problems for years to come.

Believe me, I shed a tear when my Audi was driving away.

Sounds like you need to do some number crunching. Figure out what your current car needs, how much that will cost. I like to put everything in writing and take a long hard look. From there determine whether it’s best to keep the car for a while, or just bail out now while your ahead.

As you can see, I decided it was best to bail out.

Can't you just keep it somewhere, uninsured and when the opportune moments comes up get rid of it for a good chunk of change?
A trade in will get the least $$ out of it. Selling it locally would be your best bet and who knows maybe in the process of selling it you change your mind.

you really wont get whats it worth when you trade it in esp vdubs...trust me i learned that the hard way

good luck on what you decide...

Well here is the plan. I've debated getting rid of it for a few months now. Everytime something goes wrong(often) I tell myself I will get rid of it the first chance I get. Then i fix the problem and decide to keep it and hope that nothing else goes wrong. But of-course that doesn't last long and another problem comes up. So instead of paying so much money repairing this car, I could be driving a brand new car and not have to deal with all the headaches. I still owe 2k on the passat and hope to get around 6k for it. That way I can put around 5k down on the accord and finance the rest. My parents will help me pay for it by paying every other payment.

Welcome! Nice VW...

haha guys, the op still didn't get his questions answered...b/t the 2010 and 2011 coupe...
Basically, the major difference is the styling and the 2011 coupe just gets better gas mileage. The 10' gets 22city/31hwy while the 11' gets 22city/33hwy if you want to save a little gas... Oh and the 11' gets an usb audio interface. That's all I know...haha

The Accord is definitely a lot more reliable. My mom bought one back in 1989 and it lasted her until '02 and thats because my older brother wrecked it. And in the case of parts for fixes (if you do need them) they'd be a lot cheaper than German parts.

On the other hand if you bought the 4-cylinder model you'd be giving up acceleration from your Jetta. Sometimes I'd wish I had enough to spend on the coupe or the V-6. =/

Hello and welcome to DA.net. Don't know much about 8th gens, but I'd say get one anyway  Nothin worse than having an unreliable ride. It's like getting an extra $150 in your pay check only to have to go pay bills......back down to $50 bucks in your account, always hoping one day you can use it on what you want.

So I went and test drove it today. I LOVE it. It was a 2010 Polished Metal Metallic Coupe LX-S which I believe is the base model? Anyways hopefully going back tomorrow and bringing it home!!!
