Hi everyone, I just picked up a 2016 sport the other day. My first Honda and I’m already impressed. When I was researching different models I saw a lot of videos and reviews with negative opinions on the CVT transmission. When I finally went to the dealer I picked a 2016 sport out and a 2015 EX-L with a V6. I took the sport out first, then the 6. I picked the sport over the V6 because I was impressed with the CVT. Being an old,old schooler, seeking either a manual transmission or a geared transmission I suddenly felt they were antiquated compared to the linear ability and versatility of the CVT with respect to performance and gas mileage. Anyways I’m sure I’ll have some questions and this place seems to be a good crowd of peeps.

Congratulations on your newer car, I was in the same dilemma about owning a car with a cvt. After I got my 2017, found out I really like it as Honda is supposed to have one of the best. Like the gas mileage, had to get use to the drone if mashing the gas pedal, found being able to apply a steady pressure on the pedal helps with that. Welcome to DA.

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your Accord! Great to have another happy owner here. Plenty of knowledgeable and friendly folks here as well as informative and insightful discussion threads. Feel free to ask any questions if needed!

Did some bonding over the weekend with a full detail of the interior. Next it gets a clay bar treatment when the weather gets better for prep for the winter. Took a maiden voyage out to western Mass. and it looks like it may consume a bit of oil. Is this common?

Mileage on car, miles driven out to western Mass., oil consumption, was oil level checked anytime after leaving the dealers lot ?

The car has 26,000 miles. I probably did about 200 miles of driving. I checked the oil the day before and it was up to the second hole. When I checked it after the ride it was in between the two holes. My hope is that it just settled in and maybe I checked it wrong the first time. ill keep an eye on it for sure.

Wow, do I feel like an idiot. I just checked my oil after 4 hours of sitting. It's right up there to the second hole. The only thing I can think of is my driveway is a slight incline.:headbash:

^It wouldn't be the first time- it wouldn't be the last. Got to get the boys now, and, do some drinking fast. (Gone, Gone, Gone by Bad Company)

Kudos to you for checking oil level! On a "new to you" car, check it frequently.

Thanks Rick, Yeah I bought a Ford Focus once with 300 miles on it. The thing had excess oil consumption so I'm hyper sensitive about checking oil on a used vehicle.

^You are wise. I blew an engine on a Dodge once because I went a month without checking oil level. My fault. I learned the hard way.

Lots of new-to-them 7th and 8th Gen owners don't check oil level because they think, "Hey, it's a Honda! Why should I check a well-made car?" And of course they come back in 6 months to post that the engine is done.
